A shame two people rather post negativity instead of hoping for someone at gear box to pick up the torch. If it's about money then do a quick remaster and release it on modern consoles for a quick buck. Nothing for sure will come if nobody talks about it.
Can you blame us for being negative? The patch was announced 5 years ago, the main guy that was working on it died of cancer, then the main studio that developed the damn series shut down, and since then we've heard nothing about the patch, nada, zero, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zilch about the patch.
What makes you think they'd make a patch (or god forbid a remaster) of a game the publishers don't care about?
Besides, crying about it on the Steam forums won't change anything. Deep Silver doesn't care, Embracer Group doesn't care, they don't look at the forums (at least not anymore) so why should we continue shouting at a brick wall? Let's just accept that the patch is dead and move on.
the developer who worked on the patch passed away, the studio got shut down and yet you telling people not to be "negative"
stop escaping from the truth dude, because you never escape from it
Easier to just use an emulator to play the console version. All the patch was ever going to do was bring the PC version on par with the console version.
The console version wasn't broken, the PC version was originally ported by a different company that screwed it up. The promised patch was just going to fix it and add in the console exclusive DLC.
So, playing the console version emulated on PC is already the simple solution.
I think it speaks volumes that they gave the responsibility for porting this game over to some random company rather than do it themselves - coupled with how they "lost the source code" and how they let the game rot away until some random person (RIP Mike) said hey, maybe we should do something about this over a decade later, it really is sad how so many people around the world dream of making their creations a reality only to find out just how disposable it all really is in the big leagues. How did we get to this point, exactly? Am I missing something? Do I need to take notes? People are asking for a patch but they should be asking why is a patch even needed in the first place. No wonder gaming is in the state it's in - it's the McDonaldization of society at its peak. Don't ask questions, just make product and get excited to make next product.
There are so many people/company to blame now (Minimaul, post-SRTT Volition, Deep Silver, Embracer, the OG THQ...) but CD Projekt is certainly one of them.
This was all THQ, not Volition.
Welcome to AAA gaming. It's pretty much always been like this.
