It's only easier to see in this game. It was a problem even before the update. (One of the reasons I typically advise my room as casual, because looking for expert only players is tedious, as you mentioned.)
While I do agree that the rage quitters/trolls/low skill level players are a problem, the devs did try to reign this in by setting auto-bans for people who rage quit (even if it did happen to come with a black screen glitch - oops), giving the power to the host to ban people in the lobby and various other approaches.
quick question for you: Are you a hoster or do you typically join lobbies?
If you are a host, there are ways to help with this - you can try lower holding level lobbies and weeding out low levels over time until you get a group you are comfortable with and if they are good for changing it to expert you can switch it up.
If you are a joiner, it will likely be a bit more difficult to find a good expert lobby unless you have regulars you play with all the time.
The game is made up of mostly kids and very young adults / late teens.
