Default Kill Cooldown
Is there any particular reason the kill cooldown is 45 seconds by default? The devs playtested this with their friends when this was intended to be a local game and the cooldown was introduced after a net version was released, so I can't imagine it was done by their playtesting. The cooldown was introduced so that a lone impostor killing in front of another crewmate would reveal himself to someone who wouldn't immediatly die. So where did 45 seconds come from? Did they just take the meeting number and multiply by 3 to get 45 seconds?

Wdym the default killcooldown is 15 seconds. I just tested it out in freeplay mode.

When you create a lobby, there is a 45s kill cooldown.

And I don't know the answer to the initial question. Is there a way to ask devs themselves?

The longer you play the game the higher you'll want the cooldown. The game is not about killing players with single press of a button but rather social communication. Sadly among us now swarmed with newbs who play this game on 10 second cooldown and speed above 1.5.
My personal preference is 25-30 second cooldown.

if you play with the speed less than 1.25, you're literally one of the worst people alive.

while I agree that having a moderate kill cooldown (at least 15-20 seconds) and plenty of tasks to prevent games from ending quickly is important, if you support playing the game at reprehensible speeds, or putting the discussion timer at 100+ seconds, up yours.

The issue is, if the kill cooldown is that high, you'd need to give players a lot of tasks to compensate. Most of the tasks aren't that hard, and only a few (like downloading and starting reactor) take a long time. Otherwise, you'll reach a certain point where imposters basically can't win due to the kill cooldowns taking longer to recharge than it takes for the crewmates to complete their tasks.

I have no idea. If you find out, let me know.

With default settings (except 1.25 speed because I got tired of walking), excluding games where people left mid game, with 2 Impostors in games of 10 people, I saw 31 Impostor wins, 90 Crew win by Vote, and 3 crew win by tasks. As a test, I joined someone else's lobby and after I got impostor, I decided to do nothing but walk around without killing. After 7 minutes, the task bar was less than 1/3 complete... No one actually bothers to do their tasks in a timely fashion in a random lobby.

It's tempting to blame people who watch streamers for flooding the game with impatient people, but the fact that your own preference is to not use the default cooldown says something about the default.
