Apparantley thats the thing that eats you when you win the battle and get to the end of your opponents side. I guess you're basically fighting for your right to be eaten?

Apparently nidhogg can be broken down to mean a 'hateful blow' in norse. Can't find the source though.

Nidhogg is a worm that chews the bottom of the World Tree. The worm at the end is Nidhogg.
worm.... why the worm form the nidhogg is decribed as a serpent, a dragon, and has been descibed as a wyrvern SO WHY DID THEY CHOSE TO USE THE WORM DISCRIPTION!?!?!

Because it's cheaper to draw and animate a worm, I guess.

The farther back in time you go, the more dragons and serpents were rendered as kind of the same thing. And Nidhogg as a concept is pretty damn old.

Plus a majestic modern dragon would kind of not jive with the game's aesthetic.

It also makes sense creatively to render him as a worm because he literally was a creature that crawled around under the world tree and gnawed on its roots.

There's three reasons. Take your pick. Or just don't think about it.
