Wow, really? Just how much gameplay "meat" does this title have on it's hands? Not much if a parody game is able to copy it exactly I'm guessing.
I'm all for indie devs doing their thing but charging a premium for old work?
...so enter EGGNOGG - which is a parody in every way. Instead of the epic chandelier, there is a little light bulb. At the end, when you win, instead of a giant worm thing eating you, a little worm shows up and doesnt know what to do.
Its brilliant, and it has basically the exact same gameplay as NIDHOGG, so you can then decide if you enjoy the, you know, gameplay and stuff, before throwing down your ten simoleans.
I still like Eggnogg, but I doubt I'll ever touch it again now Niddhogg has been released.
Having played EGGNOGG (which is great) a lot with friends and just played the single player of Nidhogg, I can say that while the premise of the games are identical, the game mechanics are significantly different. The gameplay is definately not exactly the same.
Nidhogg feels a lot more balanced than EGGNOGG (which revolved to much around throwing and juping), and as mentioned above, a lot more polished. If you enjoyd EGGNOGG, I would really recommend getting the actual thing, Nidhogg.
This man speaks the truth and perfectly summed it up.
The "free" Nidhogg was the prototype, Eggnogg was a very good parody, and this non-free Nidhogg is the commercial version of the original prototype (with more stuff in it - up to you to decide if it's worth it).
