Hey I just had the game get stuck on a loading screen as I left the desert area. I figured I would just lose that run but when I force stopped the game and booted it back up my entire save file was wiped. It seems that the damage boosters work by decreases the max hp of enemies. So if one enemy takes 2 hits, with one damage booster it will take 1 hit. If another enemy takes 7 hits, with one damage booster it will take 6 hits. Obviously this means the damage boosters are far less effective in more dangerous areas where the enemies have higher hp.
