How to play Colt Canyon with your friends (Coop FAQ)

Hello,
here are some frequently asked questions about how to play Colt Canyon in Coop mode.

Does Colt Canyon support online coop?
No, Colt Canyon only supports local coop. But on steam you do have the option of playing together through steam remote play together.

How do I start a coop run?
You can only start a coop run on the character selection screen that is reached through the main menu!

After starting the game for the first time you can play the prologue. This can only be done alone. (You can also choose to skip the prologue by leaving the level to the left.) Explain the skills you learn to your friends when playing together. After completing the prologue a single-player run will start automatically. You should not quit to main menu but instead fight to your death. Maybe you can even try to conquer the canyon, but in order to start a coop run you will need to unlock a unique character for each player first. A new character will be unlocked on your first death, so that's what you should do next. After quitting to the main menu from the game over screen you can start a new run, where you will first encounter the character selection screen.

On the character selection screen make sure to have additional input devices (gamepads) connected. A hint will tell you to press A to join. Press the A button on any gamepad to join as additional player. Choose your characters and start a coop run.

Will I unlock new stuff when playing coop?
Yes, you can still unlock stuff as usual. When playing as two different characters you will even unlock new loadouts for both characters at once.

Is the difficult scaling in coop mode?
Yes, there will be slightly more enemies and bosses will have slightly more health. But you will also find more loot.

How do I turn off shared ammo?
Please find the setting all the way down in the run settings, which can be access at the top left on the character selection screen.

How do I play with my friend online using steam remote play together?
If you don't get a steam remote play together popup simply open your friends list through the steam client while having the game running. At the top there you will find the option to "invite anyone to play". Click it to start the remote play feature and follow steam's advice on how to set it up. Make sure that not more than one of you is using mouse and keyboard as input device. There can't be multiple players using mouse and keyboard in-game!
