A snake usually only takes two hits tho max, but you probably played with Alice Fox, who is doing very little melee damage. However even she should only need like 3 melee hits. Maybe it was an elite snake or you missed one? You can shoot snakes while they didnt notice you yet tho and there are also weapons that can hit even small animals like the snake.
For example air rifle or the snakeshot pistol.
But yea, the general idea in stage 2 is that you have to be careful and watch where you go.
Yes, I think it could have been an elite one because I was playing with colt and with 4 or 5 stabs the snake didnt die, I guess the strategy is wait for them to attack, evade, then stab till it dies. Also this snake dropped loot.
Didnt notice the high contrast option and I will surely check it out, although its true that after some more runs Im more used to traps and how they look like. But sometimes they are hidden between other trees and cant see them very well (in dense forest zones).
The game is pretty fun and challenging, and I would like to see more things in it with time, like randoms events in stages, a little variety on bosses, and that kind of stuff (be it free updates or future dlc). Variety is king in these kinds of games but I know that its a lot of work to bring that kind of content. (competition is tough in the roguelite spectrum nowadays).
Good work and cheers!
If you dont have what it takes to beat them you should probably avoid them.
Dynamite works too tho.
