Low FPS due to "Geometry and Vegetation" setting
I'm just wondering if this graphic setting is as demanding on my system as it is on any of yours. My PC can handle the game at 1920x1080 on HIGH settings running at 60 fps for most of the time. However, I found certain areas where my fps drops down quite a bit. I messed around with the settings and found that the "vegetation" option is what causes my fps drops. I find this a little weird since I was able to play Far Cry 5 with a near perfect 60 fps using the same graphical settings. I thought my system would run this game without breaking a sweat, but I guess not lol. I wonder what's on my end that's giving me these performance issues.

I have an RTX 2060 Super, a Ryzen 5 3600, and 16 GB of RAM. Any help or tips would be appreciated!

I have an RTX 2060 super a Ryzen 9 3900x and 32 gb of ram and i don't have drops in frames and i'm running it on 4k resolution. I get between 70 and 80 fps.

Have you tried updating the drivers for your vid card?
Do you have that crappy geforce experience software installed?
Whats running in the background while you are playing?
What type of drive you have the game on SSD or HDD?
If HDD what is the speed of the drive?

Hello zombiebot,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

It sounds like a software conflict, where some of your apps or drivers may cause this. Can you please perform all the troubleshooting steps listed in {LINK REMOVED} Many thanks and if you have any additional questions, please let us know.

I believe I'm using the latest Nvidia driver (451.67)

I don't use Geforce Experience.

The two main apps that run in the background is Discord and MSI Afterburner with Rivatuner Statistics.

Right now I have the game installed on my HDD. I used to have it on my SSD but I still had this issue. The HDD speed is 7200rpm.

That's a pretty top of the line CPU you got there, no? I think that might be my issue lol. I also noticed that whenever there's a lot of enemies and npcs (like on the defend Prosperity mission early on), I get fps drops.

I do run MSI Afterburner in the background along with Rivatuner Statistics. I'll check if that's conflicting with the game.

Yea i know sometimes that msi and riva can cause problems with games. I know msi and riva would cause my doom eternal to crash and when i didn't run msi and riva my game would work so maybe it's doing something like that in far cry new dawn. Also if you are not using discord close it out and see if it's any better also.

Yea 7200rpm is good and what i'm using by ny hdd is a hybrid. If you was using a 5200 rpm hdd then i would say it might be causing a problem from not supplying data fast enough.

My ryzen 9 is one step down from the best but i like and and i been having great luck with it.

So far MSI Afterburner isn't the culprit. I get the same fps drops without it running in the background.

I use discord to talk with a copp buddy.

Ya know what else I found? I dont really get this problem much from playing alone. When I'm playing coop with a friend when he's the host I get some fps drops like inside prosperity.

Maybe he has not so good internet and that would cause it.

Thanks for the update! Is it happening all the time or only in certain areas or when you performed some specific actions? Could you please provide us with a short video of this occurring?

It happens in some of the bigger outposts. Especially when I'm at a distance and I can see the entire outpost and enemies on my screen. Even setting the graphics to the lowest option doesn't remedy my issue.

In Prosperity I go to the furthest corner next to the explosives upgrade section and I look towards the entrance of the town. I get fps drops when I'm playing with my friend here, but if I play the game on my own I don't get any performance issues in Prosperity.

Next time I'm going to try playing the game without using Discord. Maybe that will help?

You said you use riva if you turn on the gpu usage % and its reaching 99% when you're getting these fps drops that means you need to turn down some graphics settings if its not reaching 99% usage when you are getting the drops that might mean your cpu just isn't powerful enough or software is bogging down your system.

reinstall gpu drivers but clean first with DDU in safe mode, check within nvcp that power is set "prefer maximum performance" in win power options set to High.

You should be golden with your parts.

I was just playing on a lesser 2700x/GTX1070 but 64GB ram all maxed at 1080p.

Last resort maybe do a clean win 10 install but that's a bit drastic.

Ps, FCND doesn't need to run off an SSD.

Nice suggestions, however he is not getting it in single player. so it is most likely a lag issue on the connection, either on their end or the person they are playing with.
