Same here, the screen goes black for a while before it finally crashes to desktop.

GTX 1080
16 gigs DDR4
i7 5930k

Never had this problem before with FC games, only other thing I can think is I just got a Samsung Evo SSD...?

I was having freeze-ups every 5 to 10 minutes each time I tried to play. Read that someone else on here fixed that issue by turning off HD Textures. Setting this to off has resolved the crashing for me as well, and I've actually been able to make progress. If you've got the HD Textures DLC downloaded and enabled, might give that a shot. It's odd, because I downloaded and ran HD textures for both Far Cry 5 and Far Cry Primal without issue.

For reference:
1080 Ti
8700K
32GB DDR4
950 Pro NVMe SSD

Yeah I've also seen reports that turning off HD textures works?

Have others confirmed this?

I'm at exactly 119 mins of play time, so I don't want to test it myself because i'm still inside the refund window!

I had one crash in the first hour, but none the next dozen hours. It runs extremely well on my laptop, all max settings, capped the fps at 85 and the cpu and gpu run nice and cool.

FWIW, as a test, I tried playing with HD Textures back on. It crashed around the 6 minute mark. During the couple hours of gameplay when HD Textures were off, I had zero crashes. Like I said before, if you are having crashes with them on, it's worth a try shutting them off. Just be sure to restart the game after switching them on or off, as the prompt indicates, otherwise you will see no change. Btw, verifying the game files yielded no issues.

I've also noticed that Nvidia cards seem to be the common denominator (and not just in this thread, I'm yet to see any complaints from any non-Nvidia users).

But there's got to be more to it than that: I mean, they're the most commonly used card, if it was affecting Nvidia cards generally there'd be A LOT more complaints.

I'm pretty sure we've all got up to date drivers as well, so that can't be the problem either. Might be something they've gotta patch.

Good point about the drivers, another potentially useful tidbit of information. I'm on the 418.91 drivers.

have the same problem! but its not randomly. after 5-10 minutes it crashs. i turned off the hd textures and it also crashes. thought its because of the oc, but also with stock settings it happens

I think there was a big update last night? Are the crashes resolved for everyone yet?
Viper Feb 19, 2019 @ 7:31pm
I had a crash today also. Then played again for about an hour and it ran fine. The game is not completelly stable. Also NVidia GTX 1080ti.
