How bullet spongey are the enemies?
I remember reading somewhere that the enemies can take a lot of shots, even to the head, thereby ruining immersion. How true is this? How much damage can an enemy take and still walk away?

Level 1 enemies never take more than 5 shots with level 1 weapons. Level 2 enemies can take as many as 20 I believe and it gets even more extreme as their levels increase. Level 1 and 2 enemies can both be killed with a single headshot though with level 1 weapons.

Trying to kill a lvl 3 enemy with a lvl 1 weapon takes a while, so it's important to upgrade your weapon workbench.
When your weapon and the enemy are at the same level it feels the same as it did in far cry 5 (for me atleast)

Different level enemies, taking more then 20 shots and later on even more, but you can decrease it by upgrading weapons.

Far Cry 1 was back in the day a really good game, nice graphics, good gameplay but Far Cry 2 stays for me the best. I never finished Far Cry 3, it has some interesting characters but that's about it. 4 only co-op campaign completed, but i played Far Cry 5 from the beginning to the end and it was alright.

But i'm going to skip this one, i don't like those weird game mechanics like different level enemies and how higher the level, how more bullet sponges, so you need to upgrade a weapon. Kills the immersion for me.

I want a game like Far Cry 2 back! Yes, it has some annoying things like the malaria and the weapons broke to fast, but a mod fixed it. But overal the gameplay and the feeling was soooooo nice. So much detail, the immersion. I never saw or felt the same about Far Cry after the second version.

I think i'm done with this serie's.

I am really hating the enemy level scaling. I foolishly thought I would scavenge and retake an outpost, but the difficulty level between level 1 and level 2 is off the charts. my non-stealthy companion triggered as alarm. OK, so it is supposed to be more challenging in that case. However a gold enemy showed up. 30 rounds of 7.62x54mm to the head and I couldn't see if his health bar moved at all. A human neck cannot support the weight of a helmet that can do that (he wasn't even a tank, just wearing motorcycle gear). Even with level 2 weapons that opponent was absolutely impossible. Even upgraded I cannot carry enough ammo to kill him. So the whole game has become full of impossible boss fights scattered around. I hate boss fights more than any other trope in games. Everybody should killable at any level.

whhaaatt ? Really ? Wow okay, Im not buying this then. I hate those kind of systems, just like in Battlefield series. One bullet to the head should kill anyone. Oh well.

Honestly there are only 4 levels of enemies and as long as your weapon is the same level as the enemy you're trying to fight, you're barely gonna notice it. Even if they're a level higher they're still easy to take out. Headshots are OP by the way.

So far I've felt like the progression was pretty smooth. They never force you to fight someone that's a way higher level. I'm currently in level 2 and I've only seen 2 level 3 guys so far.
I've not had any issues against higher level enemies on the hardest difficulty mode. They only suck if you get mobbed all at once by multiple. But I've been taking on purple difficulty areas with blue tier weapons (2 tiers below purple) with relatively minor difficulty. If you know how to use the environment and your equipment to your advantage, you can easily take out entire outposts with no more difficulty than in previous games.
