Animals insanely tough?
Yes, I'm playing on "easiest" mode, because I just wanted to fsck around a bit and learn the game before playing on "hard". But even on easiest, it takes ALL my ammo from two different level 2 weapons (pistol and assault rifle), hitting at least 50% head shots, to kill a single level 2 animal (boar, wolf), then either I'm doing something wrong or the game is massively unbalanced.

Won't even go into trying to kill level 3 animals - they're just fundamentally invulnerable. 20 headshots and down only 10% of health? Yeah, that's nuts.

So, anyone have any hints on what I might be doing wrong? Or is the game really that massively unbalanced?

It's a "level" game; i use a shootgun (D2) when i started the game and you just have to level "up" to get get better weapons and more weapons (slots). Another thing is just not go in animal fights before you got more weapons or get your "board"/pig friend. Some animals you can just use the flame thrower to scare off, but if you on level one or two and the animal is higher just ignore the fight and get points to level up. Having a shotgun is the best when fighting animals in FC, but in ND you have a level system so it's bit harder even with a shootgun.

Happy gaming!

Yes, and I'm using level 2 weapons to kill level 2 animals and it's not working. I have the D2 "Faith" shotgun. It does fsck all, despite being listed at 615 damage. I've emptied all my shotgun ammo on a single boar, half of them headshots, and the dog had to kill it, I certainly didn't.

The more I play, the more frustrating I'm finding it. Not "fun" frustrating, just "developers are trolling" frustrating.

OK, solution is to get to level 3 weapons as quickly as possible. Headshots with lvl 3 weapons do MUCH more damage than lvl 2.

Hi again and it can be a bit frustating until you level up. You can get more bullets granates etc by leveling up and like any other fps-game it's about moving around if you have to fight.

The boar you should have no problem fighting with a shotgun, just move around. Bears don't go away if you use a flamethrower or molotov, so it's better to avoid until you get better weapons or
higher level.

If it's frustating just go on youtube and see some let's play videos on the game and see how other players play the game.

Headshots and leveling up is the way to play this game. (!!).

... and if you're coming across animals with golden body parts, shoot the gold part, and keep jumping out of the way.
