Issue (maybe need Dev help) - in-game audio too low
I have a problem with the in-game audio. When I first ran the game the audio seemed fine. But after I started the game for the second time, all the audio seems far too low, and some of the sounds (mostly bass) seem muffled, or just missing. In-game volume is at max, I have my speaker volume at max, all audio drivers up to date, and nothing makes a difference. At max volume everything sounds like it's at about 20%. Any other audio on my machine, including other steam games, seems fine. Would appreciate some input.

Hey Thrax, sorry for the delay in getting to your post.

Can you double check your audio setup matches your physical setup? If you have in-game settings of say 7.1 surround but only have a headset or stereo speakers, then some of your audio channels won't be audible.

Thanks for the reply. All the audio settings are at "windows default". I can't change them to anything besides the native speaker (I play on a laptop FYI).

That not true if you have a sound card that supports virtual 7.1, works great on headphones

Hello, there.
As I'm guessing you're playing with a friend (using skype or something) and you had a windows update recently (that returned sound settings to default), go to control panel -> hardware and sound -> sound -> communications... and then choose "do nothing". I hope that fixes your issue.

I found the "Volume mixer" (found by right clicking on the speaker option on your tack bar) had set Far Cry nearly to the bottom. You have to be running the game, then alt tab out to see the speaker option. Just push that fader switch all the way back to the top to get equal volume in Far Cry as everything else. I don't know what was causing this, but it fixed the problem.

Thanks for sharing this!

@Thrax, have you tried this method by any chance?

PROBLEM SOLVED Thanks for the replies. It was a driver issue unrelated to the game. It has long since been fixed. Thank you.
