Nuclear War Targets?
So, in the Splinter Cell easter egg mission (the downed government plane) we can access a terminal and see the actual targets of nuclear war. And that confuses me. All of the United States? Fair enough, makes sense. But the only other country to get nuked to hell is India. China, Russia, and the Middle East are fine. But India is obliterated. Why?

Speaking as an American, I don't get it. Did India nuke the US and we retaliated? Or were both the US and India the target of nukes from someone else? I can't understand why India would be a target along with the US.

India has nuclear weapons as does Pakistan and Israel. Those areas would definitely get lit up.

Yeah, I get that. But if we're talking about lighting up everyone who has nukes, then why is Russia and China in the clear? And hell, as far as I can tell by trying to analyse the nuke zones, Pakistan came out without any hits. So again, why India? So far as I know, they have no inclination to Nuke the US, and I can't think of anyone outside of Pakistan who'd want to obliterate them.

It has the potential to become nonfiction pretty fast though, let's be honest.

I´m not sure if this fits to your topic but another way to look at this map is that it may be a hint for the upcoming Far Cry 6 setting. It´s not that weird if you think about which locations light up:
India = Nepal (setting of Far Cry 4)
America = Hope County (setting for Far Cry 5 and New Dawn)
so Alaska may be the setting for the upcoming Far Cry

This is only a theory though I came across while watching some youtube videos, unfortunatly I couldn´t find the original video where I´ve got this from. But at least in my opinion it makes sense or is at least a better explanation for the nuclear war targets than we have at the moment :D

Perhaps the theory is that Russia and China collaborated and somehow pulled off a first strike on the others with sufficient potency to prevent a retaliatory strike? I don't think that's actually remotely possible (for one thing, even if you can find enough locations to launch from to give such short reaction times to prevent land-based missiles from launching before they're hit, what about all the nuclear missiles on submarines?), but hey... fiction.

Realistically, you'd probably need a way to somehow sabotage all the SLBMs, or to an incredibly successful propaganda campaign to dissuade a launch along the lines of "having a few humans alive is better than having none, so please don't take revenge and kill everybody else."
