Is it all this bad?
I played this for about 10 minutes.

The first real fight location with Carmina Rye following me, I take the zip line to the right side to flank the bad guys. I'm sneaking up closer through the tall grass, I throw a rock to distract a guy.

As he starts to go investigate the rock so I can sneak up behind him, this dumba$$ npc (Carmina Rye) walks up next to me and just stands there staring like a deer in the headlights until the bad guy see's her and starts yelling and shooting, alerting the entire camp.

I pretty much lost all interest right there. Refund.

Is the AI that bad for the rest of the game?

Am I expected to micromange the NPC's?

If you've played a lot more then I, sound off. Let me know if the AI friendly's are total morons for the rest of the game.

I might try it again if people say it gets "A LOT" better then this :(

Stop whining and don’t take anyone , they never rush in unless you do, so learn how to play the game or just do something else

I rarely used NPC's in this game or far cry 5. They just get in the way. The game is still fun though.

I'm playing on PS4 & yes, She's bad. Annoyed me so much after a short time that I only ever use the dog now to mark targets (the pig was fun for a bit too). The dog still gets in the way when looting dead bodies though where I end up petting him instead & then having to wait for the animation to end. I also found Nana to be useless as well, standing right in front me as I'm aiming so I'd end up downing her constantly the split second I'd fire my gun so then she'd also need reviving. Reminded me of playing coop in L4D2.

Different guns for hire have different strengths and weaknesses. Carmina is absolutely NOT a stealth ally - one of her main attacks in fact is flinging dynamite at the enemy. Others are much more appropriate for sneaking around.

Even so, its hard to say without seeing your situation... For the most part if you're sneaking, your ally is sneaking. I have seen them break stealth but it was very rare for me. And If you want them to hang back, attack, or move someplace else you can send them with 1 key press - just point and G. (the ally command interface is very limited but very streamlined and effective.)

Noa. Feb 23, 2019 @ 2:56pm
You can just tell to carmina to wait.

if you want stealth just take the dog, certain characters have different traits. Nana and the dog can clear an elite outpost undetected while you just hang back and direct them.
Sneak in by yourself if you want a challenge.
The AI seems improved over FC5 (which was pretty bad)

People, really, read the post, not just the title.

Right at the "BEGINNING" of the game. It's not like I recruited her, she's just there and I can't get rid of her. She literally walked up next to were I was hiding in the grass and stood there until the npc saw her and aggroed the entire camp.

aim at a bush, press g to tell her to stay. done

The last two posts were actuall helpful. TY

If the AI is that bad all the way through, for all npc's freindly and enemy, it won't be worth playing for me personally.

I didn't mention previously how after miss moron aggroed the entire camp that I pulled a Leeroy and that most of the enemies with clear LOS didn't even react to me until I punched them in the face, and even then it took tons of bullets to take me down. (On Tough setting, which is normal setting renamed)

They are. Not as bad as in ghost recorn wild lands, where the AI is so bad it can shoot someone through the entire building because it can't find the path. The best companion is the boar, because he is immortal, therest you have to baby sit, even at the max upgrades.
