Avoiding Uplay.
I have not bought a Ubisoft game ever since they made that terrible, horrible piece of software of theirs called Uplay. Why is it that when I buy a game on Steam, I must run Uplay along with it?

Is there any way to play Ubisoft games without having to use Uplay legitimately? Please do not suggest piracy.

Legitimately. No. If there was a way you wouldn't have to ask.

Well, thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I will be missing out on everything Ubisoft! Not that it matters anyway lol. Have not been interested in a Ubisoft game since the first Assassin's Creed.

Thats not the point. The point is Uplay is garbage. At least Steam is functional.

Simple. Stop buying and playing their crap. If enough people did so, they'd go out of business and current and future companies would take note. When you keep giving them money, they don't care how annoyed you are with their service. STOP PAYING THEM!!!

I have not bought a single Ubisoft game ever since they had Uplay. I am doing my part.

Exactly, UPlay is just a launcher to launch the game. If you buy a Ubisoft title through Steam you actually have to go through two forms of DRM to launch the title but you get the added benefit of having Trading Cards, and Steam Achievements (if available) as well as the Steam Overlay and all of its features including chat and screenshots. If you get the title directly from UPlay, you only go through their UPlay Launcher.

Other companies such as Blizzard Entertainment have their own launchers too. I never have grasped why people are so bent out of shape over UPlay. UPlay is how you have access to Ubisoft Club which rewards you with in-game items for redeeming Uplay Points from playing their games and also it tracks your save progress and in-game achievements. UPlay has its own social system with friends and chat even. UPlay is certainly a lot more stable and fleshed out than Bethesda's Launcher.

I guess OP is going to continue to miss out on a lot of great Ubisoft games from the past and present.

Ubisoft... great games... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I am sorry but no Ubisoft game has been "great". Prince of Persia games were great. The first AC was great. After that it was all bleh. I CAN avoid Uplay by getting their games on my PS4 but their games are not "great" enough for me to care.

If you think/believe that Ubisoft games are great then that is your own opinion. You are not going to make me feel sorry for not playing Ubisoft games.

Udontplay is 100% needed whenever you play Ubitard games, after all it looks like the poop emoji from above.
Buy a console and play Ubisoft games on that.

+1 I don't understand why so many complain about UPlay either and I own many Ubisoft titles.
