That's always my preferable approach. Of course it's not always practical, but as far as liberating outposts, many missions, the expeditions and as a general play style, it works out fine for me.
Keep the companion aspect in mind though ~ I often go it solo as they can sometimes be counterproductive to stealth.
just keep in mind that new dawn takes place 17 years after far cry 5 so its the same map as far cry 5 but in a Fallout Like atmosphere.
Overall it's pretty fun. Taking over outposts and silently killing as many as you can. You can also get perks to sabotage/trap things. So you can trap a machine turret or a alarm to explode when the enemy goes to use them. It's also of fun.
Keep in mind the enemies have 4 tiers and to takedown tier 2-4 enemies you need to unlock the perk to do so, and also that weapons are now classed in tiers where you do significantly more damage when you use weapons of higher tiers.
Not all weapontypes in every tier have silencers, so you may be forced to use inferior suppressed weapons until you upgrade.
A bit of a limitation until you get your perks and weapons.
The good thing is:
The game throws perk points your way.
One hostage freed - one point
Clearing tier 3 outpost - 3 points (dont think it needs to be undetected)
Bit of a complication to the regular FC stealth play from earlier titles due to all this but imo it wasnt too much work to get top grade equipment and perk up to take out tier 4 enemies.
In New Dawn the enemies will not trigger an alarm unless they see you. They don't trigger an alarm if they just see dead people and run around trying to find you. You will also get the Unobserved bonus (and Ninja achievement).
For Signal Point outpost just airdrop onto the roof of the globe and snipe everyone undetected from there.
Cool idea, will try that now I have the ability 👍
Airdrop to a nearby location and use wingsuit/parachute to maneuver onto the globe would be my immediate idea.
Once on the dome, there are problems with how it's rendered. At least one visually open panel is modelled as a solid barrier that you cannot shoot through. My nominal sidekick Timber, becomes unavailable after I air drop to the dome. I can choose him from the roster, but he does not show up once I hit the dome and I cannot direct him. Therefore, I lose the ability to mark all enemies.
For me, there is a simpler alternative. Go to the tallest tower outside of the dome and climb the two ladders to get to the top. From the top, looking towards the dome, take the left zip line to end up on a high platform inside the dome. There, you have the same level of invisibility as the top of the dome but you still have the ability for Timber to mark all enemies and direct him to take down those outside of your line of sight. This proved much quicker than the dome top alternative.
It has similar elements to Far Cry. Definitely a good stealth game where you can quite easily be punished if you rush or do something stupid. Once your character is advanced and understand the game better it keeps getting better and better.
Love the helicopters in this, the engine / weapon sounds are awesome.
Landscape is really nice, lots of variety and its HUGE.
I've put many hrs into Far Cry franchise but have to say Wildlands is also a V.strong favourite.
If anyone is an Arnie fan, you'll love the surprise ^_^
