SMGs improperly flagged as Handgun?
So I'm working through the Weapon Challenges and noticed something. In the Tier 1 weapons the SMG-11 is flagged as a SMG in game. However the Tier 3 Optimized Skorpion and Tier 4 "X-mas Tape" A99 are both flagged as a Handgun in game.

The Skorpion especially stands out since its description specifically mentions it's a SMG.

Was this intentional or an oversight on Ubisoft's part?

That is interesting... Especially since it should also take SMG ammo. Maybe it's a really esoteric callback to it being called a machine pistol in a previous game. But thank you for sharing this info with us!

It's sad that when a video game actually gets the difference between a smg and machine pistol correct it seems odd lol

I agree with you on that Flux, the issue is the Skorpion is a machine pistol but in the actual description they call it an SMG so it sends mixed messages.
