Digital version of original Flagship game?

I own a hardcopy. I'd happily pay ten or fifteen bucks for a way to own a legitimate digital copy of the original game. I don't even have an optical drive.

Is there any vaguely legit way to do that? Or is the answer either an optical drive, or, "acquire" a version of the files online somewhere?

I don't want to play this Hanbitsoft mess.

You know what I really would love? I've love someone to do a updated commercial version of the real game - something like what THQ Nordic did for Titan Quest.

Even GOG does not have it; quite a sad story. But I'd be surprised if you could get it to work on a recent machine. I believe also still have a CD version. I'll see what happens if I can find it

I did a iso copy of my disc and now I can mount it on daemon tools.

I had it installed on my last two Win7 and Win10 machines, and it ran fine. I've only had this box since April. As of earlier this year, it was running on a machine I bought in 2016, if that's recent.

I don't remember it as having been particularly hard to get running.

Yeah, if I dig out the discs, and hook an optical drive up, I should do something like that.

I did find my disc, but my optical drive only recognized it once, not since. Disc seems corrupted

I have the original disk and loaded on WIN10. I have just been copying the entire folder from machine to machine since it came out. Copy it over and make a shortcut to the exe, it just works. Now, what I can't remember was if the original required the CD to be in the drive to work, and I found a cheater to get around that.

or update the game and use a mod than you need no cd ;)

For $20 you can pick up an optical drive off of Amazon and use it to install your hard copy. Just install patch 1.2 and play, no need CD for run

Does the patch work on the steam version? Or does steam prevent its installation?

I have seen a review claiming that there's an app on the hellgate revival forums that fixes the 1fps bug. But there are no apps on those forums, only mods. And, some of the mods come with a warning that the steam version of the game doesn't allow them.

Furthermore, there's no steam guide addressing patch installation, that I can see (only textures, reshade, cinematics and 2038)..

but keep in mind that this patch adds some bugs and gameplay can sometimes be impossible for a certain class
