Same here. Took around 20 hours to 100 percent.
I'm now 40 hours in, and still exploring different options on my third play-through.
Advice: stop rushing. Explore. The purpose of this kind of game is to look at the options and make different choices. See how it shapes the outcomes.
So yeah, I agree. The other games were definitely longer. But I can also see how it's hard (or rather, expensive) to make a game like this long, because every extra 10 minutes of gameplay needs extra animation, voice acting, etc, and you can't sell the game for a higher price because of it.
I have a bit of an issue with the price/gameplay ratio here, as well. I wouldn't have bought it full price, but the game is definitely closer to 10 hours than 20. My final times are very similar to OP.
There's no way to not rush the last 3 chapters of True Colors, they are short. The game feels, to me, like it's missing some kind of fluff in the middle. The LARP was basically an entire chapter and lasted like an hour and a half even talking to everyone and doing everything. I wasn't able to fully form attachments to any characters other than Gabe and Alex.
**This is likely intentional. The ending clearly makes it obvious that Alex isn't supposed to be 100% comfortable yet. You DO barely know these people, still. Etc. It still feels... a bit hollow.
I wish it was longer. I would just like to spend more time with the characters and get to know them.
Seriously, can we stop judging a game based on how long it is?
Perhaps they're just used to measuring quality by length?
Quantity of a game's length or modules or even resolution is not directly related to its quality. These things CAN add to quality, but the overall quality of any game is how immersed we get into the game.
Nobody cares how many games you've beaten. They care about how good the gameplay is.
And this, I think, is excellent gameplay.
If you have to trade off between quality and quantity, then that's a different matter - overall value will depend on how much you value each, but it's valid to feel that a 15 hour game should not be costing more than a 100 hour game of similar quality.
good game, but glad I bought it half price.
having bought the deluxe, I still have to go through the Steph dlc, but I suppose it will last less than 4 hours
