[Spoilers] Timeline of all games
So I'm planning my annual Life is Strange binge, but never played the second one for obvious reasons.

What is the correct order to play?

I'm planning to play it in this order:

1) Life Is Strange: Before The Storm (Bonus "Farewell" Episode) (Remastered)
2) Life Is Strange: Before The Storm (Remastered)
3) Life Is Strange 1 (Remastered)
4) Life Is Strange: True Colors (Wavelength DLC)
5) Life Is Strange: True Colors

Is Tell Me Why part of the Life Is Strange franchise?

Technically yes, it has a very minimal connection to Life is Strange True Colors, but that is all that is really known. Other than that, there are some easter eggs within the game, but I don't know if I should really count that.

The only official connection is with Life is Strange True Colors.

Also, the game is 99.99999999% similar to a Life is Strange game.

What is the connection?

What is the connection?

Someone discovered that there were records within a box within Tell Me Why, where if you walk up to them, the character literally says:

"I wish you could just... CHANGE YOUR MOOD as easily as a record" suggesting/heavily implying that the records were from the town of Haven. This was then retweeted by the developers.

Who retweeted? The developers of True Colors?

In addition to this, the game is literally 99.99999999% similar to games that are within the Life is Strange series. Even the art style, gameplay, story style, basically everything besides a few elements here and there, are basically exactly like a Life is Strange game.

I think comparing art style and gameplay is like saying King's Quest has a connection with Leisure Suit Larry. Same makers, same engine, same art style...

There are some theme similarities, but I think that's to do with the stories Dontnod likes tell. I think Twin Mirror shares more similarities with True Colors. Like it was going to be LiS 3 but Square Enix didn't let them do it.

There are also some Easter eggs within the game, but I don't know if that should count or not, that pertain to the Life is Strange series, and there are elements that are from the Life is Strange series in some different form or another.

Oh yeah, I now remember an obvious one. It doesn't mean the games are connected. Just that they know the player base of LiS will likely play Tell Me Why too. And that it's made by the same company who wants to refer to their other work.

Sierra games also shared Easter Eggs between their series. And Lucas Arts did have Easter Eggs were they made digs at Sierra. And LiS 1 refers to Myst. Even LiS 3 does. I would not drop Myst as the first game of the LiS series to play. I'd recommend the game, but not like that.

There is no living or dead character in Tell Me Why from the LiS series. That is what would create a true connection.

I believe it was the developers of Tell Me Why that did the retweet.

Like, this specific instant is so different and way more substantial from their Easter eggs. The Easter eggs are mostly "here is a reference via a poster" and stuff like that, and not "here is a specific item that traveled from this specific setting that was important within this game along with the reaction pertaining to a specific main character and the character's powers while emphasizing that very detail and making it all be realistic." Nothing that extensive is really within the Easter eggs within the game, and I think that is why so many people think that there is a connection with just this specific detail, because of how specific it actually is, but also because of how extensive the connection is as well.

And the gameplay is pretty much exactly the same as well, which is a crucial element. It's not like comparing let's say Deus Ex to Cyberpunk 2077 because those games are still different even though those games have similar elements. Life is Strange True Colors and Tell Me Why are even more similar to such an extent that they are basically the same game, or at the very least the same "Life is Strange/Life is Strange Like" type of game.

But to me, this might just be an accidental connection, which is what I think ultimately, a connection that is there, but not deliberately there, and there are many theories and different reasoning as to why this connection might be in the game, and some might argue that because it doesn't seem deliberate, that it shouldn't be within Life is Strange lore, while others would argue the opposite, that since its there, its just there no matter if it was deliberate or not.

It's not accidental, the development of True Colors started in 2017. DONTNOD started "Tell Me Why" the very next year, they knew the story of True Colors so they just added an easter egg referring True Colors... No large theories or tinfoil hats. Just developers having a banter or just a marketing stunt... But Tell Me Why is not from the LiS franchise
