Black screen after confronting Mac on bridge?

Seem to be experiencing a game breaking bug. Just after confronting Mac on the bridge to 'push him over the edge' and he runs away the screen fades to black and remains black! I can still bring up the game menu and exit but can not progress any further in the game! Any ideas?

Seems like the game is still running because Alex will continue to make comments, but screen completely black. (Can still bring up phone and exit game to menu.

Well sorry to hear you are experiencing the same thing, but at least we can be certain its a definite bug. Hope they fix soon as we cannot progress! :(

No, not really.

"At least we can be certain it's a definite" misunderstanding of the definition of "the game bug" (== issue with the language understanding).

Namely, "the game bug" is a programming error and must be present in 100% of cases. Will say, if 1'000'000 game copies show that "bug", but there is a one single game copy that doesn't show it -- it's not a game bug anymore. Theoretically, it's possible that 1'000'000 gamers installed the "latest and greatest" driver or some Windows update, and one single person didn't do it -- and that's why it doesn't have the problem -- because the problem got caused by the faulty "driver optimization" or the Windows update.

But, in our case, we have some 200'000+ game copies and 2 people black-screen issue / with "definitive bug". ;)

It's some 'glitch' definitely, that only a few people have, due to something -- some damaged file, configuration, corrupt driver ... whatever.

Start with verifying the integrity of game files through the Steam interface, verifying the integrity of your Windows installation (sfc /scannow), trying to lower the settings and posting the FULL dxdiag, and if the "bug" still persists, then it's time for a thorough troubleshooting procedure.

So naturally you have gone to the technical support forum, read the instructions on how to report an issue and followed them?

Mentioning an issue hardly anyone has experienced in the discussion forum is not the way to bring it to their attention and get a fix for your issue.

I have indeed been through the processes mentioned. I mention the issue as I would like to see if anyone A. Has experienced the issue and B. share thoughts on if a solution is available. thought this was pretty standard? Didnt realise I would get such a vehement response :(

You get such a "vehement" answers, while you keep insisting on something that's wrong ("game bug").

Almost every game forum I ever visited, since the invention of internet, always had a couple of people with black-screen issues, even when the game was perfectly well running on some 12-year-old potato-pc.

You leave the impression, that you care much more to force your wrong opinion upon us, then to actually get help in solving your problem. That's the matter of attitude.

As of "I have indeed been through the processes mentioned" -- no, not really, or is it only me who never saw your full dxdiag posted?

Interesting. Just replicated the exact problem on another PC with different spec. A good friend of mine also has experienced the same problem. All three systems cover AMD/Nvidia setup, Windows 10/11. Different systems, different specs. Calling bug at this point regardless of the needless fury that ensues. Spent way too much time on this now, moving on to something else. I assume this will get fixed at some point. Great game, shame about this issue

Eventually, AMD, Intel, Microsoft, Nvidia ... will get it fixed one day.

Troubleshooting such sh*t is always a pain in the bu*t ... except if you're doing for living.

Strange that every machine you touch has the problem when so few experience it. Very bad luck. The Reddit bug thread is no longer monitored so it looks like direct contact with customer support is the only avenue left. One report of a black screen issue on the Reddit thread in the last month (but with no machine spec or dxdiag).
