How woke this game is?

I'm thinking about playing this. I loved the first Life is Strange. Is it similar or is it a woke-party like Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus or that Tell Me Why game?

On a scale of asleep to fully woke I would give it no more than a fairly sleepy. There's a rainbow of characters in the game but there is no overt messaging to upset the alt-right.

Not sure how you included a Wolfenstein game in your list. Doesn't really make sense. Any game where you kill Nazis can never be woke by definition. It is quite literally impossible to allow a game where you kill Nazis to be woke.
The fact that you play as female characters in a Wolfenstein game also does not make it woke.

However, this game is not woke at all.

Wtf is a woke party? Do they serve free drinks? Can I get a rainbow cocktail? If Tell Me Why's trans protagonist and narrative makes you see it as a "woke party," you probably won't like this game. Alex is bisexual and that fact is illustrated multiple times even if you choose to romance Ryan. Steph is an out lesbian and very open about it; the first time you meet her, she's wearing a lesbian flag D&D shirt. There is a gay couple of npcs that you can listen to throughout the chapters and they act like a couple and are just very gay in public. There are at least two confirmed trans women in the game but you kinda have to be paying attention to find the references/voice lines for them. You can have Steph hit on Diane and her reaction confirms that she's bisexual, though you won't know this if you don't select Steph as the distraction. There's more subtext for other things but it'll probably all go over your head so don't worry about it.

Outside of gender and sexuality, there's a weed dispensary but idk if that's considered woke anymore (it's only woke if it's controversial ;o). The main conflict centers around an evil mega-corporation doing unethical and criminal things. This narrative is definitely written as very anti-big business and believes in corporate accountability. That might be considered woke. The main protagonist is Chinese-American and this detail becomes far more prominent in episode 5 where her upbringing as a second generation Chinese-American is shown. There are many other characters of color, including an interracial relationship between an Asian man and a black woman. Since both of your romances are white, any romance with them is automatically interracial. There's many themes of environmentalism and ethical use of natural resources. There's an analysis of an abusive relationship. There's a person dealing with dementia. There's discussions of police negligence and illegal corporate influence.

If any of that sounds like too much for you, then you should give this game a pass. But if you liked the first game, I think you'd like this one, too. Many people are saying it's their favorite LiS since season 1. But it's also $60 dollars. Ultimately, the choice is up to you.and don't listen to davidb11. A lot of the "woke" discussion in the steam forums is not helpful and is just people complaining. The reviews might be a better bet.

The most woke thing in this game is what you've already described. The bisexual Alex, and the lesbian stuff, the openly gay couple.

That's the only thing that is even remotely woke in this game.

I wouldn't care if someone did the same to me. They have their reasons. I took workshop classes. I'm a big girl (not actually i'm like 110 lbs). I read the thread and it explained absolutely nothing. I still stand by my original statement. That discussion is just people arguing over semantics with 90% of the commenters being right-wing homophobes trying to explain why the term "woke" doesn't apply to games they like. You know, since anything quality obviously can't be "woke." By the way, woke isn't actually a term that really means anything. I don't the etymology of the term, but its definition is arbitrary and depends on the person using it. Personally, "woke" to me means anything that the far right, conservative, bigoted side doesn't like. So abortion, diversity, separation of church and state, environmentalism, anti corporation, pro taxes, pro federal government, anti local government, equal rights, protesting, rioting, revolution, upsetting the status quo, non-nuclear families, religious freedom, anti capitalism, communism, socialism, etc. (the list probably goes one). That's MY definition of woke and every single person in that thread had their own definitions and each of them kept using the term "woke" as if it has a singular universal meaning and getting upset that the people they're talking to don't agree with them.

And I'm under the belief that if someone has a question, they should be allowed to ask it even if there's already another thread/post/chain/etc. with a similar title. Different people will see it, it resets the conversation, and if the second person made the post, it means they didn't see the original one so you can't really fault them for making a new one. I have nothing against OP making a new thread with the same question. You do you.

But I tend to react badly to what seems like slights against me.

I have Asperger's and well Asperger's Focus is something that causes problems from time to time. Extreme Tunnel Vision in a way, and people like me get upset when someone challenges our views on the subject we are focused on.

Steps to enjoy this game:
1. Remind yourself that this is not LiS1.
2. Grab a popcorn cuz there are alot of cutscenes.
3. Make a coffee.
4. Play the game.
5. Put down the controller & welcome to the club.

p/s: this type of game , you need to play by yourself. Watching a youtuber playing this game is not gonna help you much.
