Yea, I was frustrated 'cause there's 1 | 2 | 3 beside the build options yet clicking it said I had to upgrade my construction units and I couldn't figure out how to do that. It wasn't until half way through one of the campaign maps that the option was visible, prior to that it wasn't something you could do.
All good now, thanks guys!
so generall you may notice plenty of storage around extractors and generators around factories and even some generators around T2 or T3 arty, sometimes. they also works with shields too, for example :)
I have not tested it yet, but I expect if you have the ACU or Engineers "assisting" the factory you are "upgrading" it would progressively accelerate the upgrade.
I have not looked at this issue on SupCom2 or the expansion pack.. they may have made the function more understandable, but it is quite obtuse on the basic SupCom game.
Yes, it will - Forged Alliance is exactly the same. If I remember rightly you don't need to upgrade buildings in SupCom 2, you just research the tech (for the individual unit) and it will become available at the normal factory (land / naval / air)
There are only a few buildings that can be upgraded like that. The Land/Air/Navel can, as well as the Mass Extractors. It's also worth noting that you can help those upgrades along with a Engineer or ACU, just like you can with building units. (The T2 Engineering Station "The Kennel", can also be upgraded to T3 but that is in Forged Alliance)
Personally, I wish they kept it like how it was in Total Annihilation. In that, you would first have your command unit build a land factory. The land factory would then allow you to build a Engineer which would allow you to build a level 2 factory.
Total Annihilation had a "Russian doll" build style that I loved. Everything built out from everything else, there was no arbitrary "upgrades".
They basically tried to simplify some of that in SC in allowing you to upgrade your pre-existing factories. While still allowing you to build T1 units from those T2 upgraded factories if you want.
It's against the rules to necro a topic this old and unused.
Also private profile users are typically trolls, why else would they need something like their steam profile set to private? I'm sure there are valid reasons but my experience most of the time they are trolling.
