Is the menu when you get into Supremem Commander really big, and close to your computer?

My game's sound cut out 1 second after starting it and cutscene had about the same amount of time of sound before it cut out. Game also crashed when closing it forcing me to either restart or log in and out of win 10 to be able to use my main monitor again as it was grayed out.

No restart or recheck of files worked...then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and all worked fine...the difference was that I had it installed on my E drive the first time then installed in on my C drive the second time. Not the first time some games on steam ONLY works correctly when on the C drive for me....a rare game bug but one that annoys me to death.

If you have more than one drive, install steam and the game on the drive that is NOT your boot/OS drive.

If you have to install the game onto your boot drive DO NOT install it to:
C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86)

Create a new folder such as C:\Steam, or whatever you prefer to call it...

That way you do not run into User Account Control (UAC) issues, if you have a lot of steam games like I do.

Also if you are using a mechanical drive (HDD) make sure the drive is defragged.
DO NOT defrag an SSD... use the Optimize/Trim Drive feature.

Also make sure that all of your temp files within these folders are deleted...
1.) C:\Users\<account name>\AppData\Local\Temp
2.) C:\Windows\Temp

After you do this, be sure to empty your recycle bin.
Then restart your system

Run Steam as an administrator.

Run the game as an adminitsrator....
and you may need to run the game in compatibility mode for XP SP3

If you are not sure how to do this,
Make a shortcut to Steam, on your desktop, and for each game you install.
Right click on the shortcut
Left click on Properties in the pop up menu
Select the compatibility tab
Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
Put a checkmark in the box next to "Run this program as an administrator"
Click Apply
Click OK

I have multiple drives on my system. I use both SSDs and HDDs.
I use the SSDs for my operating system/Boot drive, and for my productivity applications.
I use my HDDs for storage and my games.

My C drive is an SSD and is my boot drive
My game drive is a standard 3TB Sata III 6GB/s mechanical HDD.
I have ALL of my games installed on it.
G:\GOG
G:\Origin
G:\Steam
G:\Uplay

And they all work, just fine.
Granted, some games need patching, updating, fine tuning, or slight modding to get them to work, but for the most part, they all work just fine.

@Fulcrum if you keep crashing,
1.) Is your rig overheating?

2.) Do you have all of the latest driver, bios, and firmware updates for your
cpu, gpu, motherboard, sound card, LAN, USB, WiFi, router, gateway, etc?

3.) Is your power supply powerful enough to support all of your hardware?

4.) Are you getting enough airflow/liquid flow through your system?

The three main causes for systems to crash are:
1.) Improperly installed hardware (ram, cpu, gpu, fans/pumps, drives, or any other device that plugs into your system or directly into the motherboard.)
2.) Overheating
and
3.) Overtaxing the power supply by drawing too much power.

sometimes it can be the redistributable files as well...
VC++, DirextX, .net, etc.

Try reinstalling those, from within the game installation folder.
