Before launching the game for the first time, go there -> "C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dead Island 2" and delete the EpicGameLauncher folder. Then open the "DeadIsland.ini" file in notepad and modify the "NoOperation=0" to "NoOperation=1"
If the epic game launcher is already installed on your computer, uninstall it before doing the steps above.

The installing of the Epic launcher is only for cross-playing with other Epic owners.... Odd I know more then you, because I have brought installed and played the game. Go figure.

Just tried this and it works. Any known side effects with doing this?

EOS is still required... unfortunately a lot of players cannot go past the "connecting to EOS" screen...
For some a reinstall of the EOS works, for other installing EPIC and for me in both cases it doesn't work...

It's just disappointing if you want to play solo you are being stuck by a server
