The gold edition is not working online

Bought myself and wife the Gold Edition and online still doesn't work.
Both were tied to Epic Games. It doesn't work with that either.
Disabled the tethering and it doesn't work either!
Why?

perhaps because you need to progress on the game first?
the dlc and some item are unlocked after quite far in the game.. stupid i know, but it is what it is

Can you... describe what the entire game not working means? You can't even launch it at all?

"Gem no werk" doesn't really help us help you here.

Only the multiplayer doesn't work, even though the game type is "open".
I can't join anyone and no one can join me.
There were no such problems with the first part of the game.

Okay, so your initial statement that the entire game is completely broken, and neither of you can even launch it is null. Fair enough.

I should inform you that this is the sequel though, and issues that were a thing with the first one have absolutely nothing to do with this game.

With that out of the way, are you able to describe the process that you're following to attempt to do multiplayer? As in- Are you just making an "open" game as you say, and hoping whoever is on the other side can just magically join it via some list of "open" games, or are you friends with this person, and have they tried opening their friends list and right clicked on you, and selected 'join game' kinda deal?

No need to defend a crooked project.

I know how and what works and I know that you can invite friends or join them yourself. Besides, even in a fast game I can't join a random player and I find myself alone in the game.

Online in the game 100% does not work. Even VPN tried to turn on :-)

P.S. my wife is sitting at the second computer and we can not normally play online mode, although even the tasks are identical and progress 100% identical.

And completely forgot: you can't leave a review for the game either :D

Plus, the game was bought purely for the sake of online, which doesn't work here.

I mean no offence, but sometimes the "Did you try restarting it?" approach is the best. I don't want to make any claims to your understanding, but your initial post, and the follow-up were pretty vague. Just figured I'd start with the basics to troubleshoot a bit, and see if I can help determine the issue, or open it up a little so that others who may know the solution could jump in, if given a little more information.

I guess the follow-up to this would be, are you absolutely certain both of you have all of the additional DLC/add-ons?

Also, reviews are working fine, I left mine pretty swiftly after the game came out, and it's still up.

The only thing I can think of, is set the game to Friends instead of Open. Verify File Integrity as well. After the most recent game update they requested everyone to do that bit as to help with the updated EOS integration.
