Also, it may be a preference thing but to me personally the DI1 exotic locales were more interesting than the more Western setting of California, also the insufferably annoying NPCs in second game, they do fit right in with California but still.
D1 was much much better. Sure D2 has a few tech improvements in visuals, but honestly I don't need anyone to invest the kind of time and effort they did on realistic gore that I see for a split second, and tune out because I'm trying to click on the next thing.
And hey, The first actually took place on an island.
Driving wasn't good neither was the boat from riptide not to mention its only in the first area then thrown away in later areas.
Plot is pretty bad for both but at least depending on the character in 2 they had some personality.
If DL1's advantage is it was bigger then dang this game must be crazy small or you are wrong, because DL1 was tiny as hell and it was one of its core complaints aside from the immense number of bugs, mandatory mods to fix major issues, and balance problems like knife girl being so broken the other 3 players in a coop ought as well afk because everything dies before they can do anything or as she near instant kills the final boss, or other crazy broken builds.
The world of DL1 was also very very bland, overall. There just wasn't much to interact with, explore, or in terms of level design in general.
I think you're overselling DL1. Alas, having not played DL2 I can't comment if it is even worse or actually better/comparable.
Why did you say DL1 ten million times when nobody talkin about that game?
Its just a all round a technically mess and even the UI/UX is bad. I played the game on the 360 originally so in some ways those problems are fine but at the same time I was a little ass kid so I didn't care.
I still love the first game tho, it just sucks it got one of the worst PC ports among two versions. Also I like Riptide as well more or less, I don't remember the story that well tho, I feel like the ending had them inside a boat sailing into the sunset but I can't remember tbh.
