Metal or rubber bullets?

I'm only in season 11 in this game and outside of playing the tutorial I haven't had to deal with raiders. But I was wondering, what is the difference between metal or rubber bullets? It would seem to be a mistake to use non-lethal weapons on post apocalyptic raiders but I'm new at this.

Lethal Ammo is if you like to kill the raiders.
Non lethal if your a pacifist :)

The end result is not effected accept the general config as to towers needed will be different dependant on what you use.

Remember the only goal with raiders is to protect your goods.. there is no advantage to killing the raiders.. they will keep coming back. ;)

Myself I only use a combo of rubber bullets / sirens / barricades.
Others use the lethal ammo and have been successful.

You wont need to worry until after season 40(ish) and i personally pay the tribute for the first attack as I normally haven't finished researching what i want..

Then i wait until the attack is discovered and build up to 3 of the below configs in the general direction from the bus to the raiders.. if you can.. use lakes and mountains to shield your town and then fill in the gaps with the below.

please note this is the bare min to start out with.. you'll then need to add or increase your defences as you go on.. the numbers of raiders increase with your pop.. so don't be too eager to go for the big pop numbers early on until you have the defences in place.. they will otherwise overwhelm you.

So you suggest waiting until I can see which directions the raiders are going to approach from?

With the rubber bullets, the raiders keep their loot, not with the metal ones...
That's why I use lethal force to free them from the harshness of this cruel world and get my stuff back...

My personal preference is rubber with siren towers and lots of barricades. Seems to 'end' the raid faster, so less destruction of property to repair.
