Why keep asking for OS's that no longer have any support?

Good luck

Not like they've done this before *sarcasm*. You had plenty time to upgrade.

It's not about the visuals requiring Windows 10. Death Stranding shouldn't have any issues running on Windows 7 if they wanted to. Its just easier for developers to work on one operating system and since most users on Steam have Win10 (based on Steam stats on the store) why bother on older operating system. Win10 has gotten many updates that made it better just move on up and save yourself future headaches or you'll just keep missing out.

Who has said the game does "allow" you to run on windows 7 or 8? AFAIK there has not been any reports about the game working or not on older OS

No. Win 8 and 7 still run it.

when you consider that most steam users have upgraded to windows 10 you can't expect developers to still officially support windows 7 , it's ain't gonna be like windows XP where the support end date got pushed futher and futher again.

game might run , futures updates might also break the compatibility since they won't test them with windows 7 and 8. If you're still under those OS you're kind of buying the game on your own risk.

Current 99% games still run on Win. 8.1 and 7 perfectly. Except for very rare exceptions such as Call of Duty, as it is exclusive DirectX 12. Microsoft induces people to think that the games it has released are exclusive to Win. 10 to see if people buy your new version, that's all. What's more, who's saying that old win. like 8.1 no longer have updates, talking nonsense.

first , working and supported are two different things.

second , according to Steam own Hardware survey about 90% of users are using windows 10 64 bit , there are just no more incentive to keep testing the newest games on windows 7 or 8 because they only represent a tiny fractions of the userbase.

First: The game works perfectly (yes, I have AOE 1 DE, AOE2 DE, Quantum Break .. etc. Games that Microsoft / not Steam, says are exclusive to Win.10) and I played the AOE 3 DE beta on win 8.1 without a single problem.

Second: What is the number of users that steam registers from win. 10 has to do with the discussion?
We are talking about the games that are said to Win. 10 in a liar way by Microsoft and its tying policy to try to scare users of older (and working perfectly) operating systems to buy Win. 10.

"there are just no more incentive to keep testing the games on windows 7 or 8 because they only represent a tiny fractions of the userbase."
No, that’s not it. Since Win. 10 day one Microsoft has adopted this policy of pushing Win. 10 at any cost and discourage anyone who still had the old systems (still in 2016). It is no use coming here and wanting to speak as if you were an employee or representative of the company.

Finally, I will repeat again. There is still SUPPORT for Win. 8.1. Since occasional updates still come out.
We can discuss whether WIn support. 10 is more frequent, ok. But you come here and say that Win. 8.1. no longer supported is not knowing what you're talking about.

The number of registred windows 10 users on steam got to do everything in this thread.

Because even if windows 8.1 is still updated (mostly just security update) if no one use it for gaming then why even bother supporting it for a remastered game in 2020 ?

like I said before working and actually supported are two thing , supported mean you as a developers is willing to put time to fix glitches that are related to the OS you officially supports ... working just mean that you clicked the game and it's happen to work.

edit : I was curious and decided to see if there was an official statement from the developers and yes , I found one ... they won't intentionally break the games on windows 7 and 8 with the updates but their main focus is still windows 10 because they intend to support the Definitive Editions AOE games on a long terms.

what makes you say that in a game that you can't play yet.
Fact is what the store page says for me and that is this

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Requires 64-bit processor and operating system
Operating system: Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher

And as long as you can not play it, it is binding for me at the moment

But I can play it. I am part of the streaming beta and it works fine.

Buddy, I'm going to repeat something I said above and I don't think you read it:
It doesn't matter what the store says. The game runs on DirectX 11. There is no blocking of Directx 11 on Win. 10.
I think it is amazing how this "fear strategy" by Microsoft said that any game from it is "exclusive for windows 10" when in reality it is not. And yes, I have AOE 1 DE, AOE 2 DE, Quantum Break and so many other games that are said to be "Windows 10" and run PERFECTLY on win 8.1 and 7.
