Mission 4
How the... fu...??
I thought the previous mission was hard, but this is just insane! How am I supposed to do this? There is no chance to build up your base or your units at all, the convoy just decides to go and plow through the thick of the enemy all on its own!

you can use your commander to re direct your convoy, just keep him back and use the button to pull the convoy back.
also, throughout the map there are factories you can bring the commander to to capture them so you get more vehicles

Yeah, they're tough. Delay as much as you can. The Ork one is way harder, lul.

at the very back, near the gate there is a baneblade building that can be captured to spawn your own baneblades

If you are playing as a Imperial guard, you have to ignore the way though the central gates, because it is literally imposible to pass.

You should go though the way that is near your base - it is faster and easier (you can set points to the convoy with your General, so use it, however if the convoy reaches this point, it will return to its primary way, so set them often). Also, your enemies will always attack the convoy firstly, so it is easier to kill them while they are running to the Ultramarines.

You canalso try to watch the walkthrough to understand how to act better

This is a really badly scripted mission what a huge boner killer, did they ever test this ****?

Of major importance: You have to babysit the Land Raider (blue APC) by controlling where it goes with your General by being in short range.

Obj 1: Reach the small base just N of your starting position via micro with general to move the Land Raider for fire support and your initial units (don't forget the couple sitting in the drop ship)

Obj 2: Sit tight, for a good bit in that new base. Get power generators up and the single CP nearby and get an LP on it. You want to build up the tech on your main base to upgrade your power/requisition income.

Obj 2b: You're going to be hit constantly by everything. I holed up in the base with artillery, APCs, and guardsman. Don't forget to upgrade everyone at the armory. Play defense and remember the default behavior on the Land Raider will be to start to drive off after 5 minutes, so you need to have your General re-position it.

Tip: I got the Land Raider in the middle of the base and made power generators around it, then stuck an artillery in the control mode where it fires but never moves (hold ground?). This frees you up from the re-position micro.

Obj 2c: While you're remembering to breath, you need to send your general north with one guardsman squad to two bases, on separate runs. You'll notice the blue light pillars on the left side of the map, you need to grab the two military bases there. The first one will increase your armor cap, which you need to pump out three Leman Russ tanks. The other base far to the north is for the Baneblade and a relic capture point. You'll want that beast too.

Obj 2d: Do not consider going on offense until you have a force (IMHO this worked for me):

3 Leman Russ tanks
1 Baneblade
1 Fully-loaded command squad (I went with the melee specialists)
2 Ogryn squads (with priests attached, or whatever you'd like)
1 Engiseer + APC (kept them around for repairing Land Striker and armor)

Keep a skeleton crew on defense, they'll continue to attack your base while your convoy heads out.

It gets a little easier after this point, but not much. You just micro your way all the way through the three gates, the final control point, then the mad dash through the portal. You'll have minimal breathing room the entire way with consistent waves as you move your force and reinforce, repair, micro, and take CPs to drop gate defenses.

Good luck.

Its hell.

I struggled with that mission a lot but got it on 1st try when I tried a tactic similar to the one RaZor mentioned above. I used my Commander to keep the convoy in my base, and fortified it best I could with guardsmen inside of buildings - an upgraded OP with garrisoned squad definitely helped a lot here, I used some guardsmen units and vehicles to explore the map, and when I found a building I wanted to grab, I put the commander in an APC to quickly speed him across the map. Once I got a Baneblade I got 4 Leman Russ tanks and started to use them and the Convoy to destroy the Chaos base but once I destroyed about 80% of it I realized the enemy was just spawning troops in and the Chaos and Ork bases were a ruse. At that point I advanced through the main gates as intended, and did a fighting-retreat with my tanks and Guardsman until the Landraider got to the protection of the turrets, the Commander AIrstrike ability was definitely useful in the main gates as the enemies are just so bunched up.

Once the landraider got to the final gate I noticed that it got stuck, so I sent the Commander inside the gate and told the convoy to move to him, and that unstuck the convoy and won the mission.

Hm, just finished it on normal after my 4th try. Captured the base in the beginning, build guardsmen and kept the convoy in the back until I captured the infantry building in the middle of the map. After building gens, capturing 2 more requisition points on the map and all the while easily defending the convoy in the back with fully upgraded Kasrkins. After getting 2 leman russes I just walked the convoy down the path it takes by itself, which is really easy with 2 leman russ tanks, several fully upgraded Kasrkin squads and a full command squad.

Don't get tempted to go attacking or clearing out the giant base at the bottom, the game seems to spawn bigger waves of enemies more frequently the further you get. And thinking about it now, there's probably many more easy ways to play this...

I only beat it with the Guardsmen. I never told where the blue APC to go. I just kept pushing through by making a path of units after the APC to halt enemies that was chasing it and thankfully you meet friendlies that help! I also used the Eldar to cover the APC.
