Is the safe code puzzle broken or am I missing something?

I entered 5824 based on the position of the shogi pieces, and it is saying that is the wrong combination, so I Googled the code and Google also says the code should be 5824. What gives? Do I need to trigger a cutscene before the safe will open or something?
