I missed your comment but through some messing around I've found a couple of things that seem to work sometimes, though this port seems to be an absolute mess.
Here's what I've found can sometimes get it working correctly again:
- Find your graphics.ini file and shut off SSAO by switching ssao=1 to 0 - the ambient occlusion seems to cause issues and apparently is ugly anyways
- Delete graphics.ini. This forces the game to generate a fresh one when you boot it up and I've found it sometimes gets the game running again
- Go into your GPU control app (nvidia geforce etc) and check for drivers/optimize the game settings for your card. I've found that strangely it can also help to boot the game through this app itself if that's a functionality, and you might also need to still go in and shut off ambient occlusion after it's done
There's also some mods that try to make the Dragon engine less of a clown car machine that might help, such as Special K, but I haven't tried them yet. Whenever I have to boot the game, it turns into a roulette of which of these it wants me to do. None of these are a silver bullet to getting it to work but I've found one of them will eventually get it running if I keep trying.
Man, I hope Sega just commits to doing the rest of the PC ports in house, because QLOC really made a mess out of this one.
I'm no pro and sadly I don't really have a silver bullet to fix things, like I said. That's just what sometimes works for me when I have to wrestle with it.
Thanks for the idea! I was playing all this time without discord and don't even think this problem might started because of him. Turning overlay off fix this!
