I just beat Kiwami 1 and moved on to Kiwami 2. The difference in quality between 0, Kiwami vs Kiwami 2 is astonishing.... That being said so far I would say 0 is a necessary companion piece to Kiwami 1 as it delves deeper into the characters where as Kiwami 1 seems to have a rather brisk pacing in its story (although gets a bit dull when Haruka gets involved). I don't think the events in Kiwami 1 would have had the same impact if I hadn't played 0 prior to Kiwami. So far 0 is definitely the best in terms of story telling but in terms of gameplay I found Kiwami a lot more digestible regardless of Majima everywhere add on. I think 0 just simply had waay too many pointless distractions that seriously halted the progress of the base story.
