Folks in the Yakuza universe are just made of tougher stuff. Getting shot off of a motorcycle or run through with a broadsword won't kill you; you'll just be left groaning on the ground begging for mercy.

Yakuza-people can only die in cutscenes, when there's high enough levels of drama to overcome their universal plot armor.
