I do prefer the new combat system however. I never really felt like the various combat styles added any significant mechanical depth.
And I might be a big weirdo for this, but I actually prefer not knowing where the substories are. I liked just randomly stumbling across them, as opposed to being able and encouraged to actively seek them out. Just made them feel more organic and natural.
0 was the best I played so far, 5 was pretty amazing too.
Nothing beats the feeling of beating thugs in brawler or dragon theme.
The animations are smoother in Kiwami 2 though
kiryu can also climb over knee height obstacles, just great!
the new engine runs really well, i love the fact that i can enter buildings without a loading screen and then have a look through the windows or on a balcony down to the streets.
the gameplay and story is also very nice, only thing im missing is getting driven around the city with a taxi whitout a loading screen.
id like to sit in the cab and watch the enviroment while getting chauffeured.
Hello! Say what? Stuff was removed from Kiwami 2 ? Could you or someone else elaborate a little bit on what was removed ?
the original Yakuza 2 had a third district called Shinseicho. you can see it here: https://youtu.be/0QLz8BufR0A?t=238
there wasn't much to do in it and it was pretty small, but it looked neat so i can see why some people miss it. also the first fight with Goda had some nice looking water reflections on the ground that gave it a pretty cinematic feel; no idea why they didn't put that in Kiwami 2, as one would figure the Dragon Engine would've made it look even cooler.

Compare this to Goda. But i know that the Kiwami games are remakes and 0 came at a point, when there was, i assume, a lot more effort put into the overall design process.
I ended up skipping a lot of dialogue in K1 and 2, though i still enjoyed the storylines overall. For example, i just couldn't get into the whole drama between the different cop characters in K2 and those parts are really long.
Obviously, K2 stands out technologically, having better graphics and no load screens from entering buildings. Unlike K1, it has also comparable ammount of content to 0.
