Haruka is a gambling addict?
Jesus christ Haruka...I've been trying to fix ♥♥♥♥ but she keeps wanting to do poker (low stakes, going to take centuries) or Koi-Koi and I have a lot to say about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of Koi-Koi (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RNG for the AI)
That aside, anyone else being driven insane by the little gambling addict?

Her poker request is horrible, yeah. You just have to play solid (get out early on bad hands, etc) and make damn sure you're actually up 1000 chips in that session. Yakuza's version of poker isn't completely random - it always gives a single winner (so if your entire hand comes from the community, someone else /will/ have a better hand), and if you have e.g. a low pair, it will almost always be beaten. On the other hand, if you have a strong hand (flush, straight, full house), you'll almost always win. So you generally want to fold on poor hands and go in hard on good ones, of course, but even more so in Yakuza than in actual poker.

Koi Koi isn't too bad, at least. It's random and the cheat item doesn't do much, but the higher difficulties are high enough stakes that you only really need to win one 3-round game.

But yeah, once you get to the point where you can't avoid the gambling requests, Haruka's a different animal entirely. Probably a slightly less bloated animal though...

I've gotten close on Koi Koi so often tho
Then the AI immediately literally immediately last rand gets every possible card it needs to get 20 points and beat me
I'll go back to poker once i calm down a bit...Haruka has driven me insane for now

Wizard, OP. Haruka is a gambling wizard.

Is there any way to change her current request away from Poker without save scumming or restarting from scratch?

1000 in a single sitting is simply unreasonable and joker cards are of no use; the A.I. knows the deck far before you do.

Seems you can use the taxi to travel between Kamurocho and Sotenbori to cycle to another Haruka request you have not done yet in her list, but poker seems to unfortunately be unskippable and a time sink.
on Koi Koi, i would do the highest difficulty and change the options to increase the bet to max and show the helper thingy so you can pay attention to what you and your opponent are close to. since Haruka only needs 600 pts in Koi Koi iirc, you only have to get a 2 pt difference to complete it, this should be easy. especially if you look for moon viewings, poetry ribbons and/or junk hands primarily.

Koi Koi is like this irl, but this game is much easier imo, there's alot of dominating and then losing badly.

Yeah, you need to do every request to hit EX trust, unfortunately, no avoiding it.

As I mentioned in reply #1, you can take advantage (a tenuous advantage, but one nonetheless!) of the game's tendency to give a clear winning hand - I think it actually manipulates the cards during the game - to be more confident when you have both a losing hand and a winning hand, so you can minimise losses and maximise gains.

The joker cards are most useful when you're one off a good hand (full house and straights particularly, but also flushes), and the card you want won't give someone else a good hand (e.g. the whole hand comes from the community cards). Or, if the hand's just started and you get two cards from a royal flush. Using it at that point will basically guarantee you the win, but you should save it for a round where there'll be lots of chips in the pot.

Definitely make a note of your starting chip count btw, so you know exactly how many you need when you quit out.

so 30 poker hands at this point
1 win...
Literally 1 winning hand
I think Haruka needs a good slap at this point and ask me to solo every colleseum fighter without healing instead

Kids dont think about money the same way as adults do, to kids gambling is fun and exciting. Same also goes for gaming.

I'm playing Yakuza 3 on Xbox, and off she goes again. Get 1000 points in cee-lo! She clearly wants to bankrupt poor Kiryu and then loan shark him into indentured servitude.

Possibly revenge for what happened to their alter egos in 1605.
