Is it just me, or is the game toned down a little in comparison to 0 and Kiwami?
I've noticed a few instances were its a bit off-putting in comparison to previous games. When you go to the video stores, you can't see what Kiryu is watching, and you can't move the camera around when on a date. Which makes me think the developers removed the video parts in Kiwami 2, and not being able to move the camera around reminds me alot of in games where you get to view the character models, they remove the ability to turn the camera vertically because they don't players looking at the character the wrong way.

I say a lot of that is due Sony now censoring some games

I say that is due this game mostly reusing assets and they couldn't reuse the videos.

plus you couldn't see the videos in the original game either.

it seems like it was very much possible for them to include actually showing you whats on the video, since you see other videos that he's watching for specific substories. I don't really get the part about that they couldn't reuse the videos though, this game isn't reusing that many assets. It felt more like Yakuza Kiwami was reusing Yakuza 0 assets.

This game was released LONG before Sony became Soyny and started hiring SJW cucks. There's no censorship here... but I'll agree that if you compare to say, Yakuza 4 or 5 some Heat actions are definitely a lot tamer.

Theyd have to make a video for that.

Its easier to just add some sound effects and text.

Also, this does reuse assets, too much to list.

I'll just take Karaoke as example, only 2 songs are new.

They very likely couldn't reuse the videos, because they didn't have a license deal struck with Japanese Adult Video label Soft on Demand to use videos in YK2. They did however do that for some other types of videos, the ones where you have to select answers to the girl from three options and make a coherent sentence.

Again, as with many things, it comes down to licensing money and deals. Another game series affected by this is GTA, where some older GTA's had some of their music removed or replaced, because the license was only for a limited time. This means that, if you have a digital only copy of those older GTA games, the music would be replaced, however, if you had a console copy you'd be fine, as it would be on the physical medium.

That's how videos were in the original Yakuza 2, hell they weren't all voiced like they are here. Also there's always the gravure minigame lol.

I think not showing the video is the whole point.

Most of the videos are references to movies, games etc... . You read the dialogue and think " Oh, that's from Titanic " for exemple. Making a video for it and showing it would be pretty pointless since it would just be a scene from Titanic.

pretty much this. it was like that in the original 2, as well. the fun is in Kiryu's reactions, not the videos themselves.

I'd take the tamer Yakuza, those Particles are amazing.
It's not foo foo Anime but still feels great to see little $hit flying all over the place :D
