Never had this happen before when a Bear or rival Wolf ran straight over them
Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't for some pups. I had a few pups stay in the grass whereas one or two would run out when scared by a predator running by the bush.
I can only assume it has something to do with personality but it could also just be the AI itself being programmed to do that- just not all the time.
I had to reload the same save over 3 times just so that I could get all of the 5 pups to make it through the attack.
You would have to load an earlier save, and even that may not work.
The game will make sure you lose a certain number of pups to maintain game balance.
I only have 2 pups...what "balance" is that??
the game limit (or balance) is 5 pups, there's no reason for the game to kill off only 1 of 2 pups. In fact, I had 2 pups live before throughout an entire litter.
also, you can prevent deaths by predators and to a certain extent sickness. it sounds like you're talking about unknown fate, a death that cannot be prevented.
like i said, predator deaths can be prevented- you just have to play your cards correctly- it is NOT rng or luck-based. what kind of raid is it? I could probably help you out here.
4 rival wolves. My packmates usually keep 3 of them far away while I take care of the 4th. After replaying from my save multiple times now, I noticed that my pup leaves the grass even when the rival wolves are nowhere near the grass patch it's hidden within. This is what's actually driving me up the wall. For my pup to flee the grass when the invader is near/on top is understandable, but her leaving when all the invaders are far away? Idk about that
