Play with friends ONLINE with the Steam's Remote Play Together feature!
Quack quack there! 🦆

Following the release of the Steam's Remote Play Together feature, you'll be able to play with friends online.

Here are the detailed steps:

Before using the Steam's Remote Play Together, remember that all players need a good network but only one player needs to have the game.

To be able to play Munchkin, you'll first have to do a quick setting in the game properties:
  • Right click on Munchkin: Quacked Quest in your library
  • Select proprieties
  • Click on the "Steam Input Per-Game Settings" and select "Forced On"

Wait to be in the lobby (the Dungeonarium where you can choose classes, hats, timer, etc) before inviting your friends, then follow these steps:
  • Open the Steam Overlay (default shortcut is shift+tab)
  • Right click on the friend you want to invite
  • Select « Remote Play Together »
  • Desactivate the mouse and keyboard icon by clicking on it

Your friend will receive an invitation to play, he/she now needs to click on « Play The Game ».
If you can’t see the « Play The Game » button after that a friend invited you, please make sure that:
  • Steam is updated with the last Remote Play Together update
  • You are not on a Beta branch of this Steam feature

You are now ready to quack with friends online! You can now invite other friends or add bots.

Have fun everyone!

So, you respond in every negative review that pans the game for not having online multiplayer, that this game is made for local cooperative play, and playing with your friends in the same room is the essence of Munchkin.

Yet, the top pinned post is how to play the game online.

Ok, then.

Lazy. I understand smaller developers not being able to afford to develop a fully fleshed out online mode. But this is Munchkin we're talking about, is not a small thing, pretty much everyone who likes boardgames or card games knows about it.

You have heard from the very first day that EVERYONE wants online play, matchmaking, to have fun even with randoms. Yet you disregard every single post by saying we thought that you didn't want to play online, only LOCAL with your friends! Sorry but we're not going to do it as it defeats the purpose of having local interactions.

Then when Steam Remote Play Together came out soon you started saying that + you can still play this online now with Steam Remote Play Together! Go and try it!

Steam Remote Play Together is NOT the solution for this. A lot of people still don't have access to fast internet speeds due different countries, areas within a city and etc. Although I've found success in playing some games with it, the slight delays, requiring a fast internet speed, and distance really make it hard to play.

We love...LOVE...the the card game. With only me and my wife in the household, though, we've not been able to play since the pandemic broke out.

I've read the reviews (which aren't flattering). I've discovered in this thread that multiplayer has been added. (As an aside...how is local multiplayer supposed to work? Wouldn't the other players see the cards in your hand???)

Anyway, I work in IT so I'm sure I can figure out this setup for Steam remote play. Our friend we used to play with isn't necessarily that tech literate. He doesn't even have Steam.

I realize he'd have to install Steam, but is this something that would otherwise be straightforward?

Questions for the players: The reviews on this game are horrendous. Does the online multiplayer make this better? Is it even worth it? Or would a different online multiplayer game be better until there's a vaccine?

Any news about the sudden delisting? Was waiting to see if online support or multiplayer features were expanded via remote play. Please give us a chance to own it via limited time sale or future return.

Hello everyone, Im actually head of a indie game dev studio. I'm also a great fan of this card game. I guess my team and I could develop a fully multiplayer version (possibly even running on mobile &desktop). If anyone would like to see this project realized, dont hesitate to pm me and share around... the more pms the more weight i will have on the editor (and thus the financial doability). Have a great game all !
