Legit Question re Charlotte
Mechanics aside, is she actually a decent character? Is her story or -anything- about her interesting and worth adding her to the party, because in the first two minutes you meet her, when she's talking "wike a widdle child, oh pwease hewp me" because for some erason localization thinks that's "Cute", I wanted to break something.

YMMV and people might actually think she's cute/interesting, so fine, just trying to gauge if she's worth suffering through obnoxious dialouge style. (Because right now, no way in HELL am I putting her in my party, even if she is great gameplaywise)

other than a playthru with her as your main for the story theres not much point in using her.

i used her on a NG+ for her story with a lvl80 kevin and angela other than the towns i just ignored her and used kevin

If you put tamotoman chain ability in Charlotte to allow her to spend health instead of mana it will be difficult to make her run out of mana. By the time you get the ability in the game her mana pool will be large enough that by the time you manage to drain it, she will most likely get a level by then and be back to full. It synergizes well with her ability to heal herself

I use Charlotte as a saber II bot with Kevin, sage build. Sabers are less awkward when you can have someone else cast them while you are meleeing with the melee char, thus not having to stop and cast and potentially get smacked in the face with your melee, like when Duran has to cast sabers on himself

All external abilities. Charlotte has no mp regen on taking damage or beating a monster regen, regardless of the class you pick for her. Also, the only one who has MP/HP sabers is Duran. She is an inferior angela, really. You swim in money quickly in the game, so a healer even on hard mode, is not needed, especially with self healing characters like Kevin or Duran. And when everything is so weak in this game, requiring no challenge or thinking, why would you ever need a healer?

That means literally nothing. I've removed my MP abilities on even angela because they're just not worth the slots. Walnuts and other MP regen items are abundant and inexpensive, and there are far better things to use those limited class slots on. Even if Charlotte had her own MP regen skills (there are link skills for MP btw), I wouldn't use them because she has too many other good options to take instead.

Also, item healing is a PITA unless you're having just one character doing it all, and if you're going to have one character spending so much time spamming items, you might as well just have a healer, who will do the job better.

Charlotte has no mean of MP regen so the char is inferior.

Party rpg ? synergy ? npc chain abilities ? Since when this game became dark souls of mana.

I like how people always talk about stuff while saying "if you remove this into account". No there is no removing, that stuff is there for a reason, it's to use it. Removing gameplay content is challenge play, not the normal way of playing.
Charlotte lacks mp regen so when you pick charlotte you pick chars or stack items to bring MP.

Also saying that charlotte is the only char with no mp regen is wrong, there are paths on other chars that have no mp regen, unless you're saying all paths with no mp regen are inferior ? in a game where mp regen items are just thrown onto you, I don't understand, even on angela I used walnuts because it was way quicker to spam than waiting for her mp regen on heavy attack.

Also for OP, "mechanics aside", no charlotte is a good char, I do take her for her mechanics, she has a quick attacks, good support skills, decent passives and high damaging abilities (lucent beam/demon or undead summons) on every 2nd class except bishop (which is pure defence).

Exactly this. Charlotte has a ton of synergy with other members. She has very powerful passives, either attack buffs over % hp, passive debuff auras, can status inflict mobs by just hitting them and she frees so many item slots for plenty of stuff to use.

No character is "needed" in this game. But she sure makes a playthrough much easier and even more powerful than many possible choices. And without having to wait for the full kit on Class 3.

No, Charlotte is never as good as any other character. Her multi target heal light can easily be accomplished with an item called poto oil and now most characters can have decent spirit to use them. Kevin can heal just fine or Duran as well and both are much stronger fighters with more useful abilities as well. Her saber moves can be accomplished with items as well. It has always baffled me why Charlotte or Carlie as I like to call her is so popular as she anything she can do another class can do or items can do almost as well. She is 100% replaceable. I know some people might disagree with me but that's because people seem to like loli girls, she's not actually good. Sure Charlotte can fit in any team to beat the game with but if you're looking for raw damage output or more utility than any of the other characters fits that role much better.

Well duh. If you're after 'raw damage output' the dedicated healer is never the choice in any game.

Kinda funny that she was originally going to be a more serious character, but after some cute concept art was done she was changed.

Her story is actually interesting, though you can still see most of it with just Kevin. She is kind of annoying but all of the VO were bad so I went Japanese audio.

She is by far the best healer in the game. Take her L/L and pair her with two heavy damage dealers (Angela L/L or D/D and Duran D/D is a good one) and you can stomp hard and survive anything.
