Installing the game deletes demo data, preventing save transfer.

I found this out too late but if you bought the game based on the demo and want to transfer your save, you need to copy your save files from the demo application folder and, after the install, past it into the new application folder.

It seems the installation overwrites the existing files.

I'm bummed at the progress lsot but the game is fun enough that I'm ok starting over.

Odd, that never happened to me.

I uninstalled the demo before I purchased.
When I got to the title screen it said demo save data detected, transferring data. All automatic.

I just installed the game with the demo still installed with no issue. Maybe it's something with how you have Steam or Windows set up, and it is expecting the data to be in a specific location and it's not there.

Save files are saved in your Documents\My Games folder. I assume this is the case for the demo, as well. The full path is C:\Users\{username}\Documents\My Games\Trials of Mana\Steam\{what I assume is my user Id}\Saved\SaveGames on my computer.

When I booted the game up after completing the demo, it automatically noticed the demo's save files and converted them over to the new location. The previous location was deleted. So, I have no idea what the path is.

When you install the game on Steam, the Demo in almost completely transferred from its steam folder to the new Trials of Mana folder (not deleted, but used to speed up the download and installation process since much of the games files are included with the demo; which is why they had to take it down for awhile when it got cracked). I don't think Steam even touches the documents folder during the download and installation.

My demo progress was carried over to the full game perfectly too. No issues at all on that score. I wish all game demos did this as it is an extra incentive to buy the game and do everything in the demo without having to repeat tutorials and opening sections again. That said, we don’t get many demos like Trials of Mana these days, unfortunately. Kudos to the developers for implementing it.

Don't have the problem. I was installing the full version, started the game and was able to choose my safegame from the demo.

My saves are also gone. No files moved over. Steam Cloud usage is non-zero, so I'd have expected them to transfer, but they didn't.

I can confirm, I only have the demo and this is where my save files are located right now.
