Has anybody tried this mod extensively? Thoughts thus far?
Your right. The Original was just as if not exactly as easy. Anyone who says differently forgets that all spells froze the screen and hit all targets. Saint Beam for example. Trials just makes getting hit our fault for not dodging.
Also No one who has ever truly played a rom had friends over to play it. Every tried to convince a friend to go left when you want to go right in a game... I can tell you it's not fun.
If they are going to mod the game into basically blinding the player from attack so they can get hit just let them. I'd just rather have the version that I payed for.
I for one agree with you. I too played Joust on Atari and DnD on my Zenith Computer. The first Final Fantasy and every one till X because I had to go to college and make something of my life. Most ... 99% of them will never know and never care about Gamer seniority though.
Just like you said it is a generation that is convinced that they have seen it all and has an opinion that can't be ignored. I am hear to tell you negativity can always be ignored and negative self-entitled headcannon halfwits should never be fed.
I know you are tired... but know you are not alone.
That wasn't me, that was the guy disagreeing with me, which I felt misrepresented my opinion to begin with. I'm not demanding every game be super mega h ardcore hard. I just wanted a game t hat ALREADY HAD a hard option, not NOT be easier than games already criciticized for being too easy. that's all. But no, everyone has to strawman these opinions and make us out to be some kind of whiney never happy sadist.
If the game didn't have a difficulty option to begin with, and it was too easy, I would have b een like man.. I wish it was more challenging, but I wouldn't have made any threads about it. But the fact the developers released a pre-release demo, and they had 4 difficulty options. CLEARLY THEY MEAN to cater to a wider audience in terms of difficulty preference no? So there is nothing entitled or whatever to speak up pre-release and say 'hey guys, thanks for having a hard moe, it's just.. uhh. it's still really easy, maybe tone it up a bit before release"?
No entitlement, it's just constructive criticism. I didn't say the game sucks, I didn't say people who like it are trash. But instead dozens of people have to white knight for the game and belittle the people who just wanted to offer their opinion saying 'they are never happy, you can't please them', etc.
Whatever, I gave up trying to reason with these people. I'm glad someone made a mod.. The same people had to bash the modmaker even though, geeze.
All I meant to say is don't let it get you down. I saw someone else post "Shut up old man" and could tell the next few post weren't going to be anything else but passive aggressive and toxic so that was me saying your better than this post.
Mod or not it's just a bunch of people copying and pasting over someone else's work and saying they did it better. Kinda like DBZ Abridged, sure its funny but better than the original.... no.
I literally less than 20 seconds Dangaard with just lv42+ Duran Edelfrei+Rietz Starlancer by buffing/saber, slashing the head charging Thunderstorm, and class striking with both.
On Hard. I love it because it pays off building a powerful team, but please... it isn't hard at all, as per usual, with the appropiate preparation.
You don't have to install it if you don't like it.
You can carry on enjoying the game as it was intended, smug in your sense of superiority that you got the intended experience (which, admittedly, WAS a pretty great experience)
But those of us who wanted a little more challenge are able to get it. And honestly, that's a beautiful thing.
Hard mode is "fine", sure.
But considering how the game gives you TONS of super powerful tools, and I NEVER felt like I really needed to use them, I feel like the game was missing something.
It's "fine", but it's not incredible.
This mod made the endgame content actually feel properly challenging on hard mode, where I actually NEEDED to use all those powerful abilities, actually NEEDED to upgrade my equipment, actually NEEDED to spend all of my Training points.
Normal fights, instead of being a "oh hey there's a 5 second distraction I can beat with 3 Axe Bomber spells" became "oh wow, I actually need to pay attention and use Stat Buffs", which was great. And bosses? Now, instead of being over in like a single minute, they actually lasted about 5 minutes, long enough to feel satisfying when I overcame them.
Yes, the postgame boss is total BS on hard with this mod because it massacres the AI and also overwhelms you with stuff to to, but other than that, the mod made the game go from a "This is pretty fun" to a "Holy crap I'm having an ASBOLUTE BLAST".
LOL. Hardmode is fine? Hardmode should ne "normal", better "easy". Because hardmode is very easy in this game.. you even dont need healers on hardmode.
