Question about the Rage class skill
The description (for Rage II) states that you "gain 10% damage boost for every 20% of damage to your health you accumulate, up to a maximum of 30%."

How does this work, precisely? Do you have to be at 40% health for the full 30%, or does it simply add a buff for the duration of the fight every time you take 20% of your health in damage, regardless of whether you heal up afterwards?

It simply gives you 10% damage boost for every 20% health you lose, regardless if you heal it back up or not, so go and stand in an AoE during a boss fight until you take 60% of your health, heal it up and go boom boom.

It's not consecutive. Like, let's say you have 1000 HP, 20% is 200HP. So the game is tracking how much damage you take, and when it accumulates to 200, you get the buff, healing doesn't matter. It resets after each fight.

The logical use for that would be wound, since rage takes any damage into account (even sacrificing hp), so you just chain several heavy hits to getto the cap.
A good combination with this is the party sacrifice passive from magus angela. You chain heavy hits with duran, angela chains spells, both lower their HP base and get bonus damage.
You also want to get both wound passives (to speed up the process) and both rage passives (to get double bonus, since they are different buffs and stack).

I have been curious if the self inflicted damage from Wound* abilities count for the accumulated damage to trigger Rage or if it has to come from an enemy.

Yes wound abilities work, I tested it.

HOLY CRAP ! I was under the impression if you did heal the damage boost would be gone . This changes things a lot for me . I will be trying this ability more . :steamhappy:

Thank you, this was precisely the synergy that I was using, but I wasn't sure if it was effective.

Also important - the damage increase from Rage abilities persist across death/revival, so the ability becomes very strong against the hardest bosses in expert mode and no future modes while party members are being wiped out in 1 hit etc. As someone said it also pairs well with Angela's team based wound damage.
