To answer your question, I'd make the choices based on convenience.
Riesz: Dark > Light if I wanted to primarily control her, Dark > Dark for AI control
Casting buffs on three characters at the start of every boss takes much more time than casting debuffs on one enemy. The game is almost over by the time she becomes a Starlancer. The Starlancer can buff the whole party at once, but you will be scrolling through menus for a loooong time for ~75% of the game.
Duran: Any light if I wanted to primarily control Angela, Dark > Light if you give Riesz melee build, Dark > Dark if Riesz is support caster.
This one is pretty simple. Light Duran with Provoke tanks while Angela casts spells without getting knocked out of the casting animation. The main purpose of Dark Duran is casting sabers. Dark > Light buffs him and Riesz, while Dark > Dark buffs his own damage to the maximum.
Angela: Anything
Seriously, you can pick ANY class. Angela just shows up, and it's an automatic win. If I had to pick one, I'd pick Rune Seer because I like its spell animations and costume the best.
A note on Angela: While she is powerful in any of her final classes, she fits squarely into the 'Magikarp Power' trope; very difficult start and relatively weak in the beginning but a powerhouse later on.
Then she gets some amazing damage multipliers for her spell damage.
Off-topic on the deep end:
I see my bait-y thread title "As a Kevin fanboy, I am disappointed in this remake because..." The short is that Kevin is the highest damage output for most of the game, but Edelfrei/Berserk comes out on top at the end and Duran doesn't slouch for the rest of the game.
Your analysis of Finishing Blow is a bit shallow. Finishing Blow 1 and 2 together represent a 21% overall damage increase in the best case scenario. That's what 70% damage for 30% of a fight gets you, and for normal monsters you're over killing by landing a 70% boosted hit after a target already has HP that low. Critical Damage 1 and 2 are similar in that at best you have a 21% damage increase with both of them equipped because it requires Kevin have a 30% critical rate applied to a 70% critical damage buff. Getting this critical rate on Kevin is questionable even with Pinpoint chain ability from Reisz (+10% critical) and Moon Energy buff on. Maybe if you're perfectly hitting the back of a target his damage can soar with a 60% or higher critical rate.
To contrast this, Mighty III alone from Charlotte dark path, which is 30% extra damage on power hits, represents a 20% damage increase if you're finishing your combos at 3rd job. Sturdy III is a flat 30% damage increase from her light path when you're above 80% HP which Charlotte is great at doing. Judge from Angela is 20% damage on boss monster, Tough I and II are 20% and 30% damage on non-boss monsters, and Cheat is 20% damage on lower level enemies. These abilities do as much or more to help Kevin's damage than the theoretical strongest damage ability buffs he has. This is why Kevin's output looks so spiky. When you critical hit on a target's lowest 30% HP, you suddenly have 70% damage increase on normal hit, that crit, with 70% boosted damage. That number is impressive But you can only get that condition for more than 1-2 hits versus a boss. And again, if you extrapolate that damage increase over the entire fight, you've only increased your damage by a much smaller amount.
EDIT: thanks solthusx, there are 1 or 2 of these items before you complete the normal game. They are very close to the end though so you're not working through most of the content if you need a change up.
You can find 1 or 2 Goddess Scales in the final dungeon. Still, this means that your earliest chance to reset classes will be just before the final boss.
That's the group I'm playing now & it's very good. Having a healer means using wound magic on dark Angela is not going to need so much item support.
duran (dark light for ele sabers)
riez (light dark, starlancer is the best class of her anyway)
angela (played her light light, it worked but i didnt rly have use of her magic, the charge attacks were strong enough)
Duran: Lord for magic attack aura and multi-target heal (you'll need this once you sart stacking Magic Wound All on Angie).
Riesz: Fenrir Knight, debuffs on enemies will increase your damage far more than buffs on yourself in the end-game. Also, angela will get her auto int buff in the post game anyway, and stat up items are very common in the mean time (and cheap in the black market).
Ahh The Regal Team. Personally I'd go with Paladin just for the Glint Slash and that empowered Holy Saber but your plan sounds better.
