(though this games budget is way bigger and is a much better quality than its previous title, I'm almost sure the FF7 remake was SE main focus and thus more effort and assets (workers, ect.) was put aside for it)
though using such an umbrella term as a title when only the animations in cutscenes seems to be the only thing bothering you is basically kicking the hornet's nest
No not really, the cutscenes are decent.
???
Plus no capitalization... My troll sensor is having a field day :'(
Trials in particular, thanks to the 3D remake, lost the only thing it had over other RPGs at the time that was its above average sprite work. Story was average, the flow was atrocious and the combat was extremely limited compared to pretty much every Square RPG at the time. The remake then went the other extreme and suddenly everything is action based...
Personally I dislike the cutesy animu characters and without being able to quickly read through dialogue thanks to the way they designed the cutscenes (do we really need to fade to black this much?), it kills my desire to play. In general, I'm disappointed as I hoped that this game could be something to play while in quarantine.
On the plus side, Charlotte not having a squeaky voice was a good surprise. She was one of my favorite RPG characters.
People tend to forget this, ALOT
By the end of the day, if you like a game that someone else dislikes no need to try and "defend" it, either try and understand where they’re coming from or just give zero ♥♥♥♥♥ and move on
for instance, there is no lip sync at all. there are no facial animations. the animations are awful. the voice acting is subpar at best. the level design is extremely simple, literally just straight hallways, etc.
i mean, you can still like it, but there is no denial that it is of poor quality
There's nothing wrong with criticism on discussion boards. Reporting just to censor stuff you don't like is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pathetic. You're the troll here.
I think it is more fair to say that a lot more graphical effort went into the SNES version than this 3D version. There was a style that was built up from the games that preceded it.
They kept the style, but didn't refine it fully, imho. They poured some shader fx on it and that was it.
