Agreed. The people that complain about this clearly never played the original game with friends before and probably prefer single player anyways. Multiplayer gameplay WAS and STILL IS a core feature of the original Seiken Densetsu 3 (as even the collection of mana version supports 2 players) so not having it in the remake is a big loss for those that loved playing the classic SNES multiplayer RPG's like Secret of Evermore, Seiken Densetsu 2 & 3, and others with friends.
That one feature took an already great game and made is even more enjoyable.
Also, I'm just going to add this from a previous post:
Having said that even if they added multiplayer I'd love the option of having the Mana Collection
We should wait for some team to crack the game and to have the REAL experience.
This feature made it stand out from the myriad of other RPGs. Taking it out makes it a little bit more generic now. As somebody who really loves couch co-op I have been very disappointed with how many games have started solely relying on online co-op (demanding a household to have multiples of the same console and game). Taking it out of a game that already had it is quite frustrating.
It doesn't help that the original is only available on the Switch as part of a bundle. I already have number 2, twice, and am yet to buy the bundle because I only want it for 3 (Trials).
I highly doubt Square Enix is going to stray from that. I'd imagine it's either being worked on, so they don't want to announce it due to people screaming "False advertisement" upon pre-purchasing the game. I mean people shouldn't actually be Pre-Ordering it almost 9 months early.
That's just plain stupidity.
Either or, I've beat these games multiple times, co-op, and Solo, both on Emulators, and the Orignal Snes + the remake of Secret of Mana.
I'm dying to see how their new 3D twist of the Trials of mana will be. That being said, that might be the issue the game would NOT have multiplayer. Again, they "Could" be working on trying to fit in multiplayer to try and make it more like Star Ocean, or "Tales" kind of gameplay. Who knows. Just have to wait another "Almost 9 months".
There's just no reason not to do it and too many people wanting it.
It wouldn't be split-screen, though. It would need to be each player in its own computer.
However It was never a big deal, Multiplayer was only a thing when you managed to find another character, otherwise the second player would be forced to watch the 1st player to play through the story until they found the other party members. Moreover it's not everyday that you have someone else to play with, which would force you to play by yourself anyway. And yes, online play would fix that, but that would present it's own problems.
So yeah if they can ensure that the game will be good, I can easily accept for this feature to be missing. You guys(by this I mean the people complaining excessively, not necessarily you Sabishi) give far too much importance to classic features without considering the package as a whole.
Episodic content for FF VII remake
Subpar effort for SOM remake
No multiplayer for SD3
lol ♥♥♥♥ you Square.
They could easily add split screen or lan co-op.
