Yes, i also dislike the style in which the game has been remade... a lot, frankly.
I'm still gonna buy it, but i'm afraid it's likely that these things will bother me throughout the gameplay, some of it feel really cringy

The english voices in the trailer were bad, but game is listed as having Japanese voice, so I'll just play with Japanese Voices and English subtitles. Frankly most English voice actors they get on project like this make my ears bleed.

The voices were absolute cringe. It's like Japanese devs just can't evolve and still push the same style they pushed 20 years ago.

It looks like a lazy remake tbh. The boobs are nice but even they're stiff as hell.
I'm really annoyed about it cause this is one of my all time favorite games, but they didn't really try to expand the world in an interesting style. Just hit all the same beats of the original with none of the soul. But idk the Mana series always seems to get shafted cause they don't know what to do with it imo

Honestly I kind of like the style
as long as it's fun and doesn't look as bad as the previous remake
All I need now is online drop in drop out Multiplayer

as far as the voice acting goes....from what I've heard it's alright
Not particularly great not that awful I'd give it about a 5.5/10
it's passable for me and I'm pretty happy that the entire thing seems to be voiced

I often wonder if the people who say that a game is a "lazy remake" have ever been part of a development team which ever made a game. Also, since this game looks and plays completely differently to the original, I cannot fathom what is "lazy" about it.

Lol at calling this a lazy remake, this is probably one of the most substantial remakes of all time. How many remakes take a completely 2D game and make it fully 3D? I feel like if you liked the original you're in for an absolute treat here.

The only concern I have is about the difficulty of the game, it looks like it might be somewhat on the easy side. I know the originals were never that bad, but there were always at least certain parts of the game that posed some challenge. If the difficulty has indeed been reduced compared to the original, I'm hoping for a hard mode of some sort.

It's disappointing to see that people worked so hard to remake the game and it still ended up looking like ass just like the SoM remake.. oh well, another childhood favourite destroyed by lazy touch ups and/or ♥♥♥♥♥♥ new art direction, unnecessary voice overs and/or poorly redesigned UI. Square Enix is on a hot streak having ruined Final Fantasy 1 through 9 "remaster" upgrades, Chrono Trigger, Dissidia NT, Secret of Mana, Trials of Mana.. the list goes on and on.

It's not perfect, but if they game play matches the original, I'm happy.
I enjoyed the Secret of Mana remake, I played it straight from beginning to end after it was released.


At least they actually remade the game, even if on a budget. The FFV "remake" is terrible looking, and the FFVIII "remaster" was a scam.

New graphics, bug fixes and same game play = remake IMHO

Looks better than the Secret of Mana remake so far.

But yah... Voice acting these days are hitting all time worsts. I think they just assume kids won't care, weebs will switch to Japanese anyway, and most old-schoolers will just mute sound while multi-tasking their work-from-home job.

Secret of Mana was an even more lazy remake. At least we got true 3d graphics and voice over instead of a fake 3d isometric or just a higher-res 2d version of the same game.
