Project Kaleidoscope data question

So, in the Project Kaleidoscope bunker, the scientists want to transfer their experiments data. They could not because the tech person had died, as per the Note on the Table. When I touched the red console, the text said that the modem cable had been unplugged and that you replugged it. However, the only options I see next are to 1) read Maddock's notes (in which they describe their thoughts about the crystal), 2) examine the experiment logs (you study them, but the console resets, and the data is gone), and 3) format the computer (just erases the data). I feel there is some kind of "send the data" option missing here... Has anyone gotten such an option? Is this a bug? Or is the "examine" choice the only "good" choice here?
