Is every gun a pea shooter?
Found a Rifle that does triple the damage of my starting gun yet I still feel like I'm throwing cold peas at enemies. Why tf does it take 10+ shots and 3 turns to kill a single rat in a horde of 8?

What class are you playing?
What are your weapon skills?
I prefer to play a Black (security) starting with a Hvy machine gun - good mix of perception for accuracy - action points for more shots per turn and weapon skills - Yes means you need to sacrifice a lot else but works well for me.

What is the level of your weapon?

Starts at Lev 1 IT is the starter gun for a Black ( you need a min amount of strength but that is not a problem for a Black ) :vizor:

All level 1 weapons are going to feel like pea shooters. By the time you run into "a horde" of 8 rats you are out of the prelude and should be wielding level 3-4 weapons at the bare minimum.

Why are you quoting that to me?
I am not the one facing a horde of 8 rats.
Though even with a level 1 Hvy Machine gun my character could easily take on 8 rats usually 1 shots them - Unless they are giants :steamhappy:

you aren't going to be strong at the start of the game. You'll have to find or upgrade your current weapons, which you should be doing the entire game, keeping an eye out on vendors, finding or buying the items that upgrade your weapons. I usually play a energy tech guy and while my starting basic energy pistol is great it can get 3 shots out a round, they are weak. My dart gun doesn't shoot as fast but packs more a punch so i usually upgrade that first.

But you'll probably want to save scum vendors to find the upgrade books and ingredients. It will take a lot of them to upgrade your slew of weapons. Also i would suggest just upgrading your main weapon and hopefully as you level up you'll find stronger other weapons on vendors so you don't have to upgrade as much.

Even level 8-9 weapons feel weak. Not to mention that AP economy is out of whack, most light weapons have much better damage on account of costing 3-4 AP to fire and still doing comparable damage to "hard hitting" weapons like snipers, revolvers and AoE stuff.
